Start:
Dwight Howard (leading NBA rebounder, athletic finisher, great shotblocking)
Elton Brand (great post-up, and face-up game, monster year, also great rebounding and clutch shotblocking)
Shawn Marion (versatile, unselfish, monster on the boards and defense)
Kobe (duh)
Billups (best defensive PG in the league along with solid offensive play) |

I believe he also played some center too. He was effective where other talented players on the team were not. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

You'll need a true C. Dwight Howard can't play the position and he's not really a good post defender (yet).
While Elton Brand play well down low, he's too short to go against Centers... ...it will just lead to personal fouls (for Brand) cause the way the international refs are blowin their whistles are way different from reffing in the nba. If Brand goes again taller players hi only way to keep him away from the basket is denying position. And the international refs tend to give a foul if players battle for position in the paint without the ball...
Centers are not that important in international bball and it's very rare that they dominate a game. So we don't need a high quality Center (by nba standards). We need a defensive oriented Center (not undersized!) to keep the paint clean. He should have good passing skills and should be mobile enough to step out cause many of the european bigs have a proper outside game and are not shy to take a three every now and then. |

Wow, all you people who don't want Odom on the team are pure haters. Odom is a team guy and the last two Team USAs didn't work because there weren't enough players willing to be unselfish and a team guy like Odom. So Odom definitely deserves a chance to join Team USA. _________________ I'm like a Hadouken, down-right Fierce! |

Odom is a very good player in the post. In a "normal" offense he has proven as succh, especially at the PF position. It's difficult for him to facilitate and find opportunities from the post when specific plays aren't being run for him and that's what occurs for him n the Tri. Now Odom is expected to facilitate, then work his way around the perimeter to get into a post position, but if the pass doesn't come immediately then he's to move off the block and start the process over again. When he get's comfortable in the offense he'll likely be able to accomplish this a higher percentage of the time than he does now, bt it still doesn't play to his best strengths. A normal offense plays extremely well to Lamars strengths and that's why his skillset is invaluable to the national team. His overall natural unselfishness is also ideal in international play and his inclusion on the Olympic team again would not be a surprise whatsoever. Odom may not be the best fit for the tri, but it's nothing but pure hate to ignore the fact that he's a very good basketball player. There is a reason he was the BEST player on the last Olympic team... _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. A Streetwise Smart Bomb, Out of rehab and In denial. The international press cited Lamar Odom as the best performer on the USA team during the last Olympics. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

I see Brad Miller starting at center, not only cause he the only true center on the team, but he is a natural, and his game is perfect for the international style, so it won't be hard transition. As a matter of fact expect Dwayne Wade and Amare Stoudmare to struggle in the international play, just cause there games depend on their first explosive steps, which isn't allowed in international play. LeBron and Wade had that problem last year, there's a reason why Wade was called for traveling many times.
PG Chauncey Billups
SG Kobe Bryant
SF LeBron James
PF Lamar Odom
C Brad Miller
I've changed my mind a bit. |

Who knows? Maybe this will be a good opportunity for Kobe and Lamar to bond and find some chemistry away from the rigors of the real season. Kobe won't be under so much pressure to carry the weight of the team. |

LO has talent that is adaptable to any system. He has a tough role with the Lakers to be the next Scottie Pippen. It's a very tall order. He's just being asked to be like one of the top 50 players of all time in the NBA. I hope his Team USA experience only adds to his confidence. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Larry Brown said he was his best player in the Olympics last time around. While you may hate Odom, the league in general thinks very highly of him. |

Coaches praising him and then follow that up with offering team cancers and salary dumps doesnt equate to thinking HIGH of him as a player. A guy maybe, but player? we will see this summer I hope _________________ Lakers Tickets |
