Larry Brown said he was his best player in the Olympics last time around. While you may hate Odom, the league in general thinks very highly of him.

Coaches praising him and then follow that up with offering team cancers and salary dumps doesnt equate to thinking HIGH of him as a player. A guy maybe, but player? we will see this summer I hope

Bounty, Most of the time I don't understand what the hell you are saying. Can you please make a better effort to be clear with your posts?

Let me see. Odom jockers would be Larry Brown and Pat Riley. Odom haters would be you and a few others on this board.

I wonder who knows more about basketabll and who's opinion actually matters.

i dont know whats the problem. He played great last olympics. He really wants to participate the next one. Im happy for him. Maybe this will encourage him to play harder now that their giving him a chance.

The best thing - We would actually know for sure that he is working out in the offseason.

This past season he was out injured and didn't play much basketball at all during the summer (shoulder injury)

Working out in the summer ussually makes for a better following season.

what position does Lamar actually play? last year he was out of position playing PF..now he's the same playing SF/Point forward..

team USA doesn't need the "tweeners"/mid-level players like Lamar..

It can swing on our team (average team) but not against the best in the world... no more getting embarassed.

How do you validate your suggestion that LO has"value", and how do you measure what others think of him? So far you bring up Brown, Riles and the Golden State warriors announcers.

Lamar is this time, what he was last time...a filler. He's someone to call if the guys they'd rather have pull out.

The USA should not be getting the bronze medal in the Olympics in basketball. Basketball is an American game. We need to field a good enough team to be favored for the gold.

This may boost his level of confidence. In turn it may lift his level of play.

It's obviously mental.

Go LO! Go Lakers!!

I believe he also played some center too. He was effective where other talented players on the team were not.
Yep, this has been discussed in another thread. Duncan couldn't stay on the floor because of foul trouble. Lamar played center and did a great job. He was the only member of the US team named to the All Olympic team...I for one am glad he will be playing.

I think it will be good for both Kobe and Lamar. More experience playing together is always a plus.

Lamar is going to mess this up as he messes the Lakers up. He's a cancer.

Kobe must have insisted for his ball boy to go with him. Good for them if they decided to keep Lamar after this summer. With this is A.I. invited now because there are 2 left?

I would take A.I. over Lamar on the Olympic Team. Just cause he was playing unselfishly last time.

He would be great on team usa. Lamar is a good role player who provides a unique combination of size and skill. Any coach would love to have someone who can handle the ball, post up, rebound, and initiate the break at 6'10.

What he is not is a second option or sidekick to this lakers team.

I don't know if this had been posted, but Lamar made the USA team. I guess last night's performance sealed the deal for him. 2 lakers in the USA team, amazing, so why are we in 8th place?
