Didn't JJ wear the PnG a few years back during the pre-season or in the SPL? I faintly recall him doing so back when we were winning rings before he signed w/ the Suns. If so, then he probably has more experience with the triangle than we initially realized.

No, I'm pretty sure some of us would have remembered if he had played for the Lakers before.

Good job Dagger. I was a bit concerned that only the LA Times was reporting it.

By the way, I'm in San Diego today. Does anyone know if FSN is available down here for tonight's game?

yup; channel 31 for TWC

I wonder where JJ got his bad reps from....in houston he was a great teammate...passing, defense, hitting good shots, crashing the boards...the guy did it all...i can't wait til he gets used to the triangle and starting to bring up our 3 point FG percentage.

Solid pick up definetly. Let's hope he plays some defense. That is the part of his game that he lacks. We all know about his offensive skills especially the three ball. Phil should pump him into Laker shape. Be real nice if he could play against the Spurs tonite.

Jackson was in Los Angeles and was to be in uniform for Monday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers said. He did not take part in the team's shootaround earlier in the day, so it was unknown if he would play.

Didn't play for the Lakes.....although he did play in the triangle when he was in Dallas w/Kidd and Mashburn under Jim Clemons.

What makes us think that Phil will use him right away? He has Ronny and Bynum sitting on the bench and they've shown they can have an impact on the game. Is it because of his age?

why people are so happy for this move? J.J is likely done and Mitchell's track record of signing/trading for old veterans is very bad.. (Brian Grant "I don't have knees", Horace Grant "I don't have knees either", Brian Shaw, head case in Payton, injured Malone, disabled Divac, and Mckie "I am hurt all the time")....at least it won't hurt us if JJ doesnt work out.

akula - check his stats from last year.

don't take this year as jackson being "done". He hasn't been part of the rotation this year. There a new faces in Phoenix that took his minutes.

so, he hasn't hit his stride because he is not getting minutes.

why do you think he signed here?

I'll tell you why, because he WANTS to play some minutes. No guarantee that he'll get that somewhere else.

You'll like him...just be patient and let the guy play.

He is the Brian Shaw/Ron Harper that this team needs.

Washed up? Only to those that haven't watched this guy play.

Last year he torched the Lakers for 25 points off the bench. Name a current Laker that can do that off the bench or even a starter? Hmm, I can name two.

As long as he can play decent and provide some COMMON SENSE in the clutch, I'll be happy....

i hope to be wrong, but jimmy jackson is done... why do you think that with the suns he had so far a collection of dnp?... they think that he hasn't anymore the rhythm of the game... but maybe mitch knows something that i don't know, in the tradition of richmond, horace grant, divac, brian grant, aaron mckie...

No, Phoenix just wants younger guys running and gunning and no doubt Eddie House and Boris Diaw are better in their respective game. Phoenix doesn't play a lot of defense, and Jackson can be a solid defender.

Jim Jackson is also a RIP player and stays in shape throughout his career.

Anyways, we are basically getting JJ for NOTHING. Meaning a Slava trade off and yet some people are b%#@hing.

At the very least, this is why we're happy.

We're not losing anything by signing him. Thats the worst case scenario.

So anything more is something to be happy for.

How can you can put the word defense in the same sentence as Kwame Brown unless it's a question?

Never truer words were spoken! Anyone complaining abouat Salva getting delt should catch the backside of my hand!

I wonder how did JJ's availability come about anyway? Mitch Cupcake should be proud of his mediocre strides!
