pete- "So I would argue that Kwame compared to these two quite well at similar stages of their career. It remains to be seen whether he can play at the levels they reached during their respective careers. As a Laker fan, I hope he does while HERE."
--------------------
Similar? Not even.
Wallace could block out the sun by his third year. By year five he was a machine on the inside. This is a direct measure of defensive dominance in the paint. Kwame has pathetic block numbers for his size.
Kwame also is not remotely close in rebounding. Ben went 8.3, 8.3 and then jumped to 13.2 in his fifth year. Kwame after his 7.4 fell to 4.9 and follows that this year with 5.9. ...5.9 vs. 13.2.
The steal numbers are even worse. Factors of 4x.
Similar? Hardly. |

Come on now.
Kwame has one 10+ rebounds game and we're saying he's the next Big Ben?
Perhaps James Singleton is the next Big Ben too? Why not next Dennis Rodman?
And all this without even questioning Kwame's lack of shotblocking skills.
Ben Wallace's best asset is his ability to protect the basket with his shotblocking and defensive rebounding prowess.
What's the most blocks Kwame's had this year, 3? |

Kwame grabbed 19 rebounds in a single game so he is capable of being a BIG TIME REBOUNDER at the C position like Ben Wallace.
Kwame has 12 in his last game.
Keep it up Kwame keep it up!!! _________________ Kevin Love. 2015. |

Big Ben does some pretty funny stuff, like running out of bounds while trying to create a layup, which he did in our game on Saturday.
Not sure how you missed that.
He's no offensive threat, whether he catches the ball or not. |
I never said he was an offensive threat, but when the pass is made to him he usually can finish with a dunk. When rebounding his hands become even more important while Kwames stand out even more. Kwame routinely has the ball knocked out of his hands from behind while going for rebounds. He has a long way to go to be a big ben player. |
Agreed. |

Just because a big man sucks at offense doesn't mean he has the potential to be "the next Ben Wallace." Ben Wallace is a good player, and Kwame is not. He can't block shots, and his rebounding is mediocre to subpar.
Basketball-reference.com is a site that has historical stats for every player, including advanced stats that you won't find on NBA.com.
Scroll down and you'll find a list of similar players, which they made with a mathematical formula that factors in both physical characteristics (height and weight) as well as stats. I believe there was a recent SI article about this similarity formula.
Anyway, going by this formula, the player that Kwame is most similar to right now is...Donald Hodge (who?). For a good laugh, check out the player who was the second most similar to Kwame when they were 20 years old. Maybe all the people on this board who accuse Kwame of having stone hands are on to something. |

Can Kwame be the SECOND coming of "BIG BEN" ?
The big stationary clock in England, maybe. It doesn't work all the time, the hands don't work quite often, and it doesn't move very fast either.
Be like Ben Wallace? No way in hell. _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

The Next Ben Wallace vs. San Antonio
27min
4pts
7rbd
1blk
1TO
2 missed dunks
2 dropped passes.
Sounds a lot less like Ben Wallace and a lot more like Samaki Walker, but wait he totally shut Duncan down... oh... he didn't...
Sorry folks K.wamaki isn't the answer. |

Kwame wasn't the problem tonight. I was actually happy with his play tonight.
The problem was defense by Smush, Kobe, Lamar, George, Luke, and Sasha. Ginobili, Parker, and Finley just went off from the perimeter. |

Duncan scored 2 points on Kwame and the rebounding was even when they were in the game together. He played very good D against Tim.
Lets get this straight guys nobody said he was the second coming of Ben Wallace, the question was can he be the second coming. It's a process. He has the skills and has shown he can D anyone up in the post. When Tim went nuts in the third it was because Kwame was on the bench. We have to face facts we are just plain and simply a better defensive team with him in there. I believe his lack of offense can be offset by keeping him on the floor with KOBE and OR Lamar. Better he defers to Kobe or Lamar than Devean, Cook, or Smush. He does need to get tougher on the boards but I think that will come with more playing time. 27 minutes isn't enough he needs more like 35. |

man dunno why guys just overreact to Kwame like that. The guy is a total bust and just cuz he played good D agains an injured Duncan now he's the next Big Ben ?
Imean, seriously, people should stop this |

If he plays like Big Ben, the I'd say YES!!! _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups.
