I think mostly people just weren't digging on how sure your title makes it
sound, when it's one-paragraph with no real details, and is speculative
in nature.
Anyhow, like I said - I hope he opts out - wouldn't mind seeing him here. |

He is too soft but a very efficient shooter and scorer. |

So what, we can't afford to shell out a big contract for another perimter type player. |

He would fit in perfect with KG and KB8. Kobe slashing, KG at the highpost and (bleep) hitting shots from outside. Then get Boozer to play the low-post. _________________ The great Laker Center Tradition continues.....Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, AD....Gasol. |

maybe we should also add LeBron James since Jax likes big guards and maybe Chris Paul to defend the PGs....
seriously do you think we can get Boozer, Lewis and KG? thats pipe con 3000 |

He would definitly fit our need of an outside shooter. If we did land him people who have been wanting Kobe to drive in more will see it. Having a consistent shooter on the perimeter just spaceing things out, and we all know how well Kobe plays in open space. |

I started a thread on this subject last week.
Here are my (and others) thoughts on the prospects of acquiring Rashard Lewis; his rant on the Sonic's organization; and, the ramifications of his opting out of his contract.
http://forums.lakersground.net/viewtopic.php?t=19341&highlight=
Sorry if this has already been posted, but...
Quote: | MIAMI — Rashard Lewis has made peace with this lost season.
He says he's no longer angry with ownership, management, teammates and the circumstances that have turned the once-proud Sonics into a franchise struggling for respectability.
He has reconciled his feelings and started early vacation planning, believing that Seattle isn't returning to the playoffs and is headed to the NBA lottery, where the team will have a chance at landing Adam Morrison or J.J. Redick.
It isn't often that Lewis provides candid glimpses into his thoughts, but after Saturday's 115-106 defeat to Miami at American Airlines Arena, he opened up and sounded like someone who dies a little every time Seattle loses.
"I'm tired of losing," the forward said. "My main focus is to compete for an NBA championship before my career is up. I would love to bring that to Seattle, but I can't do it by myself. I need a little bit of help."
Lewis calmly criticized nearly everyone inside the organization from majority owner Howard Schultz to beleaguered Danny Fortson, and questioned their desire to bring a second NBA title to Seattle.
He also said the instability of the franchise, which has threatened a sale or move unless it receives public subsidies for KeyArena improvements or a new stadium, will affect whether the longest-tenured Sonic opts out of his contract in 2007 or re-signs with Seattle. |
More...
Quote: | "The type of contract that I'm looking for — I feel like this is my last really big deal — I don't know if they'll be willing to pay that," he said. "And I don't know if that's going to allow me to continue to play basketball in Seattle or move elsewhere." |

I think if the Lakers contacted the Sonics in the off-season, we could work a deal to bring Lewis to LA for Odom and Miami's 1st. If the tandem works out, Lewis will have four choices come the summer of '07 when he can opt out of the contract:
A) Decline to opt out and stay with the team allowing the Lakers more flexibility for '07 FA's;
B) Opt out and re-sign with the Lakers with their capspace;
C) Opt out and walk away leaving the Lakers with even more capspace in '07; or,
D) Opt out and allow the Lakers to do a S&T deal with him.
I know that Option "A" is a longshot, but consider...
According to the article, Lewis can void the final two years of his contract which will pay him about $21 million. That's a lot of money to leave on the table if you fit well with Kobe and can bring in another good player into the mix to help you towards a championsip. |

Rashard will fall off after he gets that contract like Peja. He should not have been an all-star, and he really has NO D |

Odom and a pick for Lewis? That's insane! Besides the contracts don't work. Odom makes twice as much as Lewis. |

That just gives us a better chance to get him if he wants to come to LAL...
And it lowers the asking price. With an upcoming opt-out year, he has alot of leverage over where he wants to go...
S&T DG/Mihm for Rashard/Fortson?
I'd buy that... _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

He is away from Sac. But mos def has fell of considerably since 02-03. Rashard Lewis will do the same once he gets the contract. Maybe Kobe-Lewis-Odom would work at the 2-3-4. Odom for Lewis is just dumb and worse than a lateral move. Maybe Odom and a Pick for Allan. |

From realgm.com:
L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Lamar Odom
6-10 SF from Rhode Island
14.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 5.3 apg in 39.5 minutes
Incoming
Rashard Lewis
6-10 SF from Alief Elsik (HS)
21.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.4 apg in 37.5 minutes
Change in team outlook: +7.1 ppg, -3.8 rpg, and -2.9 apg.
Seattle Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Rashard Lewis
6-10 SF from Alief Elsik (HS)
21.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.4 apg in 37.5 minutes
Incoming
Lamar Odom
6-10 SF from Rhode Island
14.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 5.3 apg in 39.5 minutes
Change in team outlook: -7.1 ppg, +3.8 rpg, and +2.9 apg.
Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers and Seattle being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and Seattle had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. |
