No matter how much Hollinger tries to portray himself as the Bill James of the NBA, his agenda always manages to show through the disguise. |

OK...I thought MVP is about how valuble a player is to his team. What Shaq has to do with it? |

The Kobe/Shaq situation has absolutely no bearing on MVP discussions. I generally am interested in Hollinger's analysis of numbers, but he's clearly biased here.
He should also read "The Show" to see what folks like Tex Winter said about Kobe vs. Shaq. |

After he forced out Shaq? That's his reason? That's laughable at best.
This guy is a stat guy and since the stats are probably favor Kobe as a legit candidate, he comes up with that. Silly. |

you guys have to understand that this will always follow kobe unless he wins a title without shaq. its not about the validity of the statement. thats what a great many people think about when they think about kobe. most people don't know about contract extensions. most people don't know about the comments shaq made because they were't given the same coverage because shaq was the jewel of LA.
to most uninformed people...the lakers were champions with shaq, and a lottery team without him.
it makes no difference what stupid people think. if kobe wins another title...then the notion will be erased but if he doesn't...its here to stay. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

this guy's agenda is really really transparent.....
what on the blue earth has Kobe v Shaq or the "allegation" that Kobe forced Shaq out of LA got anything to do with Kobe being an MVP candidate 2 seasons later?????????
that guy loses all credibility with a comment like that |

Even if that were true, and its not, what the hell does it have to do with how Kobe is leading and playing for the Lakers this season. I swear this is the biggest clown at BSPN. _________________ JVG FOR LAKERS HEAD COACH |

I took it from www.forumblueandgold.com
Quote: | It pains you a little more when your idols let you down. Like when John Hollinger said in his chat yesterday
I still don’t have those guys on my MVP ballot — I don’t think Pierce and Bosh have quite been good enough, and it’s hard to vote for Kobe after he forced out Shaq…
I don’t want to rehash this whole thing again, but it takes two big egos not to dance. If it had been Shaq with the free agency hammer, he would have forced Kobe out of town. I suggest Hollinger read Roland Lazenby’s “The Show” to get the insider perspective of what Tex Winter thought:
“Phil was dealing with two mighty big egos. But in my mind I blamed Shaq more than Kobe. Kobe tried to sacrifice. Kobe tried to please Shaq, because Kobe realized the team’s effectiveness began with Shaq. But if you look at Shaq’s quotes in the paper, it was always me, me, me. Give me the ball. It’s my team, my city. Shaq is a wonderful person in a lot of ways. He’s very compassionate, very generous. He has a great sense of humor. But he’s moody; he’s unpredictable. And he’s very self-centered.” |

Would people be this mad at Shaq if he'd stayed with the Lakers and Kobe had signed with the Clippers? I'm guessing they'd still take it out on Kobe saying "he wasn't man enough to stay there and figure out how to play with Shaq" or some such nonsense. Don't these people get that Kobe and Shaq did not get along with each other and that it wasn't a one-sided thing? Shaq asked to leave, he wasn't "forced out". What a bunch of nonsense. _________________ "People don't think it be like it is, but it do." - Oscar Gamble

"Pay me Mother F*****"
"If he don't like it, he can opt out"
"The Team's all here"
What's that? Oh yeah, the sound of Kobe forcing Shaq out. |

John Hollinger is a joke. Even here in Europe we're laughing at him. _________________ I want to say something about Dwayne Wade, but I fear I may get called for a foul.

But it's the media who votes for the MVP award and his views are what other Jack A## think. Even though Kobe is having the best season of anyone in the league he wont sway any votes from Nash or Billups (IMO not an MVP candidate).
I am curious what the MVP totals will be and if Lebron will have more votes than Kobe |

Kobe shut down the leading runner for MVP while scoring 40+ points, IMO, it's not even close. |

I stop listening to people who are so negative towards Kobe. I mean if people wonder if media influences the the fans or anything, just bring up Kobe. I mean I laugh at the fact that he's so hated and for no good reason. Do you think Kobe knows that, check out his commercial. I mean the only person that loves this negativity towards him is Kobe. Kobe thrives on this it's fuel to his fire. |

I don't know much about this Hollinger fellow, but he loses all credibility with asinine comments like that. Writers like this should not be taken seriously. _________________ If you meet the Buddha in the lane, feed him the ball. ~Phil Jackson |

Hollinger is just sour because he loved to use his so-called efficiency rating against kobe and for players like KG and Lebron but now Kobe is no.1 even according to his own measurements and he has no recourse but to conjure up excuses. He needs to just grab his ankles and take it like a man... |
