Anyone? I'd like to see who we can sign to improve this team.

We can sure use Nicky V at point. I wonder if he can be had for the veteran's minimum?

Nick the quick is done. Sam Cassell would be a better choice, though I would expect him to stay with the Clips.

He may be done with two blown knees, but he's still very effective around the perimeter. And that's exactly what we need to give Kobe some breathing room on the offensive end. His stats this year may not show it, but that's only because he's not getting enough minutes.

jack13, where did you get that Kobe quote?

Thanks for the list. I'd like to sign Peja out of that list.

Odom pg
Kobe sg
Peja sf
Brown pf
Mihm c

We wouldnt have trouble scoring we would have a legit second option behind Kobe. Plus Odom will be better than this season so I hope Mitch considers this. We wouldnt need Kwame to score too much, just play his defense. Let Cook be a spark off the bench.

I would love to give the full MLE to Jason Terry or give a partial MLE to Marcus Banks. Also we should try to steal Melvin Ely from Charlotte.

I doubt the Timberwolves will let Banks walk after this season, but what about full MLE to Claxton instead?

We need perimeter defense far more than we need perimeter offense. In any event, Nick isn't coming here. He was ready to retire as it was, but since he could go play for a contender, he chose to do that. He's not going to come play for a playoff bubble - and I'm not trying to be a smart alec, Nick really won't come here unless we're bonafide contenders and the Spurs lose this year.

Why Claxton? The guy spends more time on the IR than he does playing. We really can't afford to spend the MLE on yet another guy whose brittle and fragile. We need to acquire reliable and consistent players we can count on each and every night. That's not Speedy.

I'd love Jason Terry, but Dallas isn't about to let him walk.

why not? They already have Jaric and Hudson locked up in the backcourt long term. Also Mcants will get minutes there too. If Banks gets a big offer they let him go, otherwise they'll probably sign and trade him. Claxton for the MLE is a good idea, but I wouldn't give more than a 3 year deal. After all he still is backup material.

im sure 29 other teams would gladly give full mle to jason terry. but im sure jason terry would love to get a much more lucrative deal, and even if we were all offering just mle and thats what he would take, wouldnt he rather go to lets say houston, miami, or some other team than that lakers?

THE BEST player we could plausibly get w/ mle would be mike james, and im sure NY and Toronto would lay down just as much money. marcus banks is plausbile, as is melvin ely. only point is mle wont get a player like jason terry. you need someone w/ potential, or who has off the court problems like the law, attitude, or injury to get someone at mle who is above that value (and jason terry is well above that value).

I like Smush statistically he's right the mix 2nd to Brian Cook in 3pt% on our team. Defensively he's ok member this is really his 2nd year in the league not consecutive. I think if we did decide to upgrade that position I would like to upgrade with Bobby Jackson. He's a guy I've like even when he was in Sac just because he hustles and is very confident and that's a guy that I think would help us out.

According to a poster on Club Lakers that works with Ben's uncle, Ben is fond of Kobe (would like to play with him). According to rumor, Ben has ended extension talks with the Pistons. That, when he's playing one of the best seasons of his career.

Mike,

I remember alot of lg.neters hoping that Reece Gaines would fall to us in the draft when he came out, alot more people saying it was pipe, and Rick Patino saying he was one of the best players he had ever coached.

Since Louiville nada.

I have hardly seen him play.

Do you think his athleticism just is not up to NBA standards? Did he get Pipped by TJ Ford? Did Milwaukee playh him out of position or is he just in the wrong system?

I guess if he is on your list you think he is in the wrong system but seriiously why no burn at all?

Beats me. I just think he's one of those guys that got lost in the shuffle of the NBA. The NBA skills are hopefully still there, because he is a combo guard with good size. He'd have to do a role change with the Lakers, but it never hurts to work a kid out and give him a shot. It's not like he has a severe 'tude problem.

I don't think talks have ended with Big Ben because Detroit made that move on moving Darko for Cato to free up room to free Big Ben this year and Billups next year. That's why that trade was made to get Cato's expiring contract so they can dump it after this year and sign Big Ben. That's why Joe D is a good GM he knows to make moves to help his fanchise.

He has taken gambles some have paid off and some have not.

He took a chance on a skinny kid from Compton. It turned out well.

He took a chance on underachiever with record techinichals. It turned out well.

He took a chance on a former star with years of knee injures. It turned out ok.

He took Darko over Wade,Melo and Bosh.

Then he turned down Al Harrington for Darko.

Now he got an expiring K.

If Malone's knee had held up through the 04 finals would we be talking about playing "the right way" how Dumars and Brown are geniuses, and new non-superstar roadmaps to the Championship?

The way LAbron is playing I think he wants to be Kobe's setup man. That would be 07 though. What would almost be as funny or odd would be picking up Nazr and Big Ben this year.
