You see the look on Kobe's face after he missed the 3's at the end of the game? Kobe's going to come out ready for war |

Kobe goes nuts...35/8/8.
Lamar goes 15/10/10.
Parker scores 10.
Kwame scores 10.
Cook scores 10.
Luke, Sasha, and Bynum combine for 20.
Lakers 100,

Not having Mihm is gonna hurt alot. He usually plays good against the Kings cause Brad Miller cant defend. Also not having George to d up Artest is gonna hurt too. Kings havent loss on their home floor since getting Artest. Gonna be tough. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

1.Kwame stops Miller from shooting wide open threes
2.Odom will have zero turnovers
3.Artest will skip the game to go cow tipping |

We're okay because the Queens have been starting Kenny Thomas at PF, and Lamar can easily match up with him. If I were Phil, I would not start Cook this game, unless he feels Brian can cover Kenny adequately (Kenny is crafty at creating shots). Either way, we're okay because Kwame and Bynum can cover Miller, as can Cook, Turiaf, and Lamar for that matter, so we can be flexible with how we play the 4.
The real problem is who covers Artest. If Kobe can do it without getting worn down with Artest post ups, then he's the obvious guy. Otherwise it seems like it has to be Lamar. We're missing Devean George big time, because if we had him, I'd start him on Artest, put Kobe on Bibby, put Smush on Martin, Cook on Thomas (with short leash), and Lamar at C on Miller. The crazy thing is that Lamar can cover Miller, so we can consider lineups with Lamar at C in this game.
JJ can get in there and cover Artest too. |

It's going to be a tough challenge without an any inside player, somebody going to have to step up or have a surprise game. Phil says Bynum's going to play more, but I think Ronny's minutes will go up, and look for Jimmy Jackson to get some real run, Kobe is tiring. All that being said, I THINK we can cool off a hot Sac team, I hope.

Bynum will definitely play, but who knows how much? I expect a lot more Bynum in future games, but he might be an asset in this one offensively whenever Miller is not in the game (and maybe even on Miller too). Lamar can play center against Miller, so we have a lot of options, including putting Cook at center on Miller too.
This leads to Kwame...if I'm Phil, I tell Kwame it's his time to step up for us and dominate. Whether starting or off the bench, I tell Kwame to be very aggressive and use his physical tools and strength to DOMINATE Miller, Thomas, whoever is on him. As part of this, I'd post up Lamar a lot and have Lamar look to Kwame off double teams, along with Kobe doing a lot of penetration also looking for Kwame off doubles.
Phil is usually at his best when he's thrown wrinkles like this (Mihm out again) in enough time before the game to come up with a creative game plan.

Let's hope that the game turns out more like the Feb 23rd game against the Queens instead of the first meeting...where I recall Kenny Thomas driving in for uncontested layups and Odom turning the ball over in the final minutes. |

Well, Lamar doesn't initiate much at the end of games anymore, so I doubt that part will reoccur. As for Kenny Thomas, I'd put money on that happening again if Luke covers him. Kenny Thomas is a brilliant and crafty offensive player who's a little undersized at NBA 4, but if you put someone on him like Luke, more his size, Kenny will dominate like he did in college. |

We pretty much owned Sacramento on both occassions. If it wasnt for that mental lapse in the first game we'd be 2-0 against them. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

If we play as stupid a game, as we did, tonight, the rest of our season is in the toilet... Sorry, to say it so bluntly, but that's how I feel...
Phil sat on his hands, looking like Colonel Sanders... He should have saved Kobe, for the 4th... I would have taken a chance on Jim Jackson... As it is, we were very lucky, to get something good, out of Luke... Luke must have been showing off, for his pappy...?? _________________ "Teamwork is a nebulous thing. Lamar has been more aggressive the past few games resulting in a much more solid performance. I look for Lamar, Kwame, Smush and maybe even Jackson to be the keys to a victory. They also need to try and put more pressure on Bibby so he doesn't get as many clean looks. Eventhough he shot 38% against LA last time...he is averaging 33 points in the two games. |

Hopefully Sasha and Luke are the X-Factors and continue playing well. Lakers have good transition D and Kobe has a better shooting night with Artest on him.

Odom should play some center against Miller. it's an easier defensive task and he should take him off the dribble all night long. put Kwame's post defense to some good use on Kenny Thomas and Kobe better not double off of Martin.
Lakers 100, Kings 99 on Robert Horry's 3 at the buzzer. _________________ '04-'07: Kobe's prime, Lakers decline. |

I think this will be a good game for the Lakers. Sometimes they decide to focus more after a bad loss.
I'll take the Lakers 94-81.
Artest just doesn't look right in that Queens jersey. |

Kobe and Lamar just need to attack the Kings interior.
Even with Artest, the Kings are still very soft inside. The Lakers should not become a jumpshooting team - especially Kobe.
Defensively - Bibby will not be stopped but the key is to not have them get a 2nd option going. The Kings offense has been a little weaker since the trade and they lack fluidity to their offense. Lakers just need to play Artest and Miller hard. |

We all know, Kobe was very pleasant with the way he played last game. He's going to come out and hit over 40pts. But I hope the Lakers as team come out with the same attitude and back him up. Play some solid D and win it.
