-It's a home game and the queens are coming from a hard fought win v.s Sonics last night.
-I'm looking for balance effort all around
-Kobe will keep Artest in check
Lakers 92 queens 85 Final

The Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers meet at the Staples Center, with both of the Pacific Division rivals eyeing the final Western Conference playoff spots.

The Kings are percentage points ahead of the Lakers for the seventh playoff spot in the Western Conference. Ninth-place New Orleans is one game back, with 10th-place Utah just one game further behind.

Sacramento hasn't missed the playoffs since the 1997-98 season. Los Angeles failed to reach the postseason last year, but hasn't done so in consecutive years since the 1981-82 and 1982-83 seasons.

The Kings have won four of their last five meetings with the Lakers, including two of three this season.

Ron Artest scored a season-high 34 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had six assists as the Kings beat Seattle 105-96 on Tuesday night, snapping a two-game losing streak.

"It's a game we definitely had to have coming off the last two (losses)," said Brad Miller, who had 14 rebounds. "It keeps us right there with Los Angeles with our game there (Wednesday)."

Mike Bibby added 30 points -- including five 3-pointers -- and has 65 points in his last two games. Bibby is averaging 31.3 points in three games against the Lakers this season.

Tuesday's win was Sacramento's 14th straight at Arco Arena, but the Kings have struggled on the road. Sacramento has lost two straight road games and 13 of its last 19.

Artest is averaging just 12.8 points on 26.3 percent shooting in his last four contests away from home.

Los Angeles salvaged the finale of a three-game road trip with a 105-97 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night. The Lakers avoided falling below .500 for the first time since they were 15-16 in early January.

"This was a must win for us," said Kobe Bryant, who had 43 points, five rebounds and five steals. "We played well the entire trip, but it's just that we weren't able to close things out. Tonight was a win that we desperately needed."

Bryant is averaging 39.0 points against the Kings this season, including a 51-point effort in the Lakers' 118-109 loss on Jan. 19.

Lamar Odom had 17 points and nine rebounds on Monday, and is averaging 20.8 points over his last six games.
Team Comparison
Team Record Standings PF PA Road/Home Streak L10
Sacramento 34-33 3rd Pacific/7th West 99.4 98.0 Road 11-22 Won 1 7-3
LA Lakers 35-34 4th Pacific / 8th West 98.8 97.4 Home 18-13 Won 1 5-5

Sacramento Notes
Mar 22 The Kings snapped a two-game losing streak with Tuesday's win over Seattle. They have won 14 straight home games, their longest streak in Sacramento since moving there in 1985. ... C Brad Miller had a nightmare fourth quarter. He missed a pair of open jumpers, two layups on the same possession, two free throws in the same stop at the line and a dunk. ... F Ron Artest scored 34 points, one shy of his season high with Indiana vs. Orlando on March 26, 2004. ... Mike Bibby scored 30 points for his 13th 30-point game this season.

LA Lakers Notes
Mar 20 G Aaron McKie was listed as probable despite a slight tear in his left quadriceps tendon, but did not get into Monday's game. ... Monday's game marked the 173rd meeting between the Lakers and Celtics with Boston holding a 96-77 edge, making it the only team to have a winning record against the Lakers franchise. ... G Kobe Bryant has scored in double figures in eight of his last 11 fourth quarters.

How did we win a Championship in 82, if we didn't make the playoffs?

I'm wondering why Phil looks so upbeat, with a twinkle in his eye.... Maybe, the Lakers have found something good, in practice??... I hope so, we're going to need something new. I wonder if we could get something out of McKie? I keep thinking that McKie might be able to instigate our offense a little better.

More media writers who really check their facts. I think the last time the Lakers went consecutive years of not making the playoffs was in 73-74 and 74-75 or there-abouts. Wow..the Kings have made the playoffs for 8 straight years  ...the Lakers have only missed the playoffs 5 times...EVER!!

Throw Bibby off, and you upset their whole offense, then we just pick them off..

Username and your email to confirm.

But you only need username and password to watch the game online.
