Mine would be:

Rick Carlisle:

Very underrated coach, he has made the Pacers have like 4 ECF contending seasons from 2000 to 2004, then after the Pacers got Artest suspended, he and Reggie managed to keep the team together and take that sucky team to the playoffs. This year they havent been good because of the Ron Artest thing, and they seem to be ambulance chasers.

Gregg Popovich:

He treats every player equaly, no superstars, so players respect him and listen to him.

George Karl:

Has had success with the Sonics on the past, and has lead Denver to 2 solid seasons despite some constant injury problems.

Pat Riley:

Coach of the showtime Lakers, had success wherever he went.

Phil Jackson:

The best coach, 9 rings in 14 seasons, 10 finals appearences, never lost playoffs.

I think he meant Phil never missed the playoffs.

(Otherwise, Larry "got him" in '04, Hill in '95, Riley in '94, Daly in '90....)

Man, only a couple seasons removed from a championship and Larry Brown is already missing on a list like this. With this year's nightmare and the olympic disaster, he probably doesn't deserve to be on a best coaches list though.

Popovich 1A
Jackson 1B (interchange squads and both would do very well)
Dropoff to:
A. Johnson
Sloan
Carlisle
