I dunno if its an april fools joke or not. I dont think an official site would do that would they? Heres the link...

Quote: | Bobcats Waive Guard Kareem Rush
Rush
The Bobcats have released guard Kareem Rush, it was announced by Bobcats General Manager & Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff.
Rush played in 47 games this season and averaged 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and shot .386 from the field and .348 from three-point range. The fourth-year guard missed 23 games this season due to injury.
“The Bobcats are about two things – hard work and maximum effort,” Bickerstaff said. “With that in mind, we think that it is best to go in a different direction with Kareem.”
Originally acquired by Charlotte from the Los Angeles Lakers on December 6, 2004, Rush averaged 11.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 25.8 minutes in 34 appearances for the Bobcats in 2004-05, before missing the final 27 games of the season with a left knee MCL sprain suffered at New Orleans on March 2, 2005.

Scary for us if it is true. Though I would still take him over Sasha. |

From the Charlotte Observer
Quote: | Bobcats cut Rush
RICK BONNELL
rbonnell ( a t ) charlotteobserver.com
In what has to be the strangest departure in the Charlotte Bobcats' brief history, the team cut shooting guard Kareem Rush Saturday, with just a handful of games left in the season.
Rush did not play in Friday's loss to the Chicago Bulls and later met with Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff about his status.
This was the second time in the last six games that Rush did not play at all, by coach's decision, after being a starter for much of the season.
"We had a conversation, and it ended abruptly," Bickerstaff told the Observer Saturday. "The young man has an abundance of talent, and I hope he realizes that."
Asked why Rush didn't work out as a Bobcat, Bickerstaff replied, "It's probably my fault," without elaborating.
Bickerstaff indicated in a press release that the issue with Rush might relate to effort.
"The Bobcats are about two things -- hard work and maximum effort," Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think it's best to go in a different direction with Kareem."
Rush makes about $3 million this season, but the Bobcats owe him no guaranteed money beyond this season. |

Pick him up. He'd be a very nice addition. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. He guards people, like shuts 'em down. Then, to do 'dat on 'da offensive end. It's like 'Damn, I can't score on him AND he about to bust my ass." |

I doubt it's an April Fools joke, as they released it over the SportsTicker. Rush hasn't been playing many minutes of late, and it may not be health related.
Like his older brother, Kareem had a reputation of being a partier. I suspect that's why he was available when Mitch drafted him... well that and the fact that he's an undersized 3 trying to play 2 guard.
Phil Jackson liked Kareem, and strangely enough claimed that he was the second most athletic player on the team in The Last Season (he must of forgotten about D. George). I have a feeling the Lakers will pick him up, if he's healthy. |

Why? If it were an april fools joke itd be like "Bobcats cut Fan Favorite player X" Its not like Rush is a fan favorite in Charlotte or is he? Anyway, if we sign him now we cant have him for playoff time. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

Effort has always been an issue with Rush.
Rush has talent to be a Micheal Redd type. The difference is that Redd has worked his ass off and Rush just pretty much content with just making it and being paid like a NBA Pro. |

Don't believe the hype! April Fool's hype that is.
His ass was cut! There are some rather happy Charlotte fans in a few different forums. Didn't realize Kareem was so unliked.

Yeah, for those who don't remember, Kareem pretty much admitted he partied too much during his rookie season. To turn things around, he kicked his underacheiving older brother out of his house, and said he was going to work harder. I thought he made some decent progress, but that lingering foot injury late in his Laker career probably raised a few eyebrows.

I went as far as contacting the writer...
His response: I'm writing a news analysis for tomorrow that will explain anything I know.

Is this some sort of April Fool joke?
Strange time to cut a guy don't you think?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,

With George likely gone next year I wouldn't be socked at all to see LA trying bringing him back. Rush, Profit, and Luke off the bench at the 2/3 spot and possibly our miami pick. Certainly nothing amazing but you know Mitch. |

I would pick him up, he knows the triangle, he can shoot, and he is pretty athletic, I would dump J.Jackson I guess? McKie is guaranteed money next season so I don't see the Lakers waiving him, and they seem high on Green. I think it would be a good move, especially if he isnt hurt, and Phil did like Rush a lot, but I'm not sure Rush was happy as a Laker? |
