I jus saw Duncan's career stats and this year, he's scoring 4 point below his average and his blocks are down from 2.5 too 2 ,lowest of his carerr, and he turning the big 30 on april 25th.. How long before he starts his decling too the point say the spurs arent the dominat team anymore? I know its cruel but hey the faster the big fundamental reaches his end the faster we have a chance too rise again. |

I wouldnt say that just yet, he has been playing all season with plantar fascitis and we saw how that affected kobe. Now, if he has a repeat of this season next year than thats another story. |

It started already but as sucky said he's still the most fundamentally sound player. His problem is the same as Shaqs.....Lack of heart.
By the way it's KG, Dirk, Yao and T-Macs problem as well.
Players that don't have that problem: Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Nash and all the Pistons except for Rip. I may have left some out. _________________ Mitch Kupchak is the best GM in the league!!

I don't think KG lacks heart... but it's sad to see the decline of a great player... I like Tim, he's cool, loved his dry humor during the All-Star game... |

Heh so what if he is on the decline. It's not like Spurs fans need to worry. Their GM isn't Mitch Kupcake so when Duncan is no longer able to produce I'm sure their GM will have it all planned out so that as Timmy is retiring the Spurs will have plenty of cap space to go out and sign a FA or 2 that will have big time positive impact for their team. |

It's the plantar fasciitis, last year his stats went down because of the minutes (33.4). Pop practically rested him the whole regular season and came Playoffs his minutes went up and he returned to the old Duncan, especially in the Finals, out scoring/rebounding both Wallaces in most of the 7 games. This year is a little different, he still isn't playing much (35.1), but his PPG went down due to a lower FGA. Come Playoffs time, plantar faciitis or not, I think the Spurs have a good shot at title no. 4.
Keeping a close eye on TD, 41pts 26 rebs 8 blks the last 2 games. |

Due to tim's style of play, his decline will be slower than you'd think. He expends less energy and maximizes his efficiency more than most players. Once the playoff's begin we'll see the same old duncan. |

thats y, i asked because tim duncan is NOT a fat and lazy shaq. He could very well maintain his 20/10/3/2 numbers for years, i mean yearsss too come. But the thing is , neither tony nor manu have the abillity IMO , too move too the front and carry this team with time duncan playing a clear second fiddle. Right now people have been quietly saying that this tittle maybe more on tony and manu, than on duncan if they were too capture it. But he is the base of what makes tony parker and ginoblie what they are, he;s not the same anymore, and their defense and offensive structure crummbles, more so the Defense. |

Sure with his style he can play for a long long time, but his team is not getting any younger. The Spurs GM have alot to do in the next few years.. Maybe tank a season and draft Greg Oden or something, wouldn't put it pass them to do something like that. |

Duncan is very fundamentally rooted.
Very little of his game is (at least heavily) dependant on his athleticism.
I think his decline is getting near, but this season has simply been a result
of his nagging injuries.
Given full health he's still got 2-3 years before he starts to show any
legitimate signs of decline IMO, and even then it will just be the beginning
stages. |

Not in your wildest dreams. TD has been playing injured all season. They should've sat him for a month or two, but I guess it's just one of those annoying injuries where he can still play, although not at 100%. Even TP said TD is only at about 85% right now. _________________ The great Laker Center Tradition continues.....Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, AD....Gasol. |

Injury and deepest bench ever doesn't equal to a decline. Timmy's up there, hanging out with Rob and you know, company makes yourself alike. In the future don't expect Duncan to give a flying crap about anything till it's May. _________________ I want to say something about Dwayne Wade, but I fear I may get called for a foul.

The key is to make him work. Try to gain position on him as much as you can if he tries to defend our bigs trying to post up. Push him under the glass when the ball goes up, as much as possible. Run as hard on the break(provided that you secured the defensive board), whenever possible. Don't let him rest on defense, nor offense.
We have some depth at center. We need to use that to our advantage. If you have three guys that can produce 4 and 4 in 16 minutes each, and try to make Duncan work for his baskets as much as possible, then you pretty much neutralized the production that Duncan gives them. |
