Anyone notice that his stats are very close to lamars numbers?
Diaw:
mins FGA FG% 3PT% FT% Off Def Tot Ast TO Stl Blk PF PPG
35.5 10.6 52.7 26.7 73.5 2.0 4.9 6.9 6.0 2.3 0.7 1.1 3.3 13.5
Odom:
mins FGA FG% 3PT% FT% Off Def Tot Ast TO Stl Blk PF PPG
40.3 11.5 48.2 38.0 69.4 2.3 6.9 9.2 5.4 2.7 1.0 0.8 3.2 14.9
Diaw's numbers are crazy, Phil better figure out a way to stop this guy in the playoffs. This guy is a key to Suns success. Maybe put odom on him and George on Marion. |

Diaw and Odom are both comparable in terms of their passing and ballhandling. They are also very versatile position wise.
I think Diaw is a little better on man defense while Odom is better at rebounding the ball.
Scoring wise - I give the edge to Lamar. I think Lamar is a better shooter and post up player. Diaw is a better driver - only because I have seen him finish at both directions unlike Lamar (who almost always left) |

Always did like Diaw.
Diaw is better defender and stronger than Odom.
Odom is much better handling the ball. |

i have a hard time judging any of the suns players besides nash and marion. their offense is so wide open that it's hard to for me to say that their players are really that good. i think their offense allows mediocre players to appear better than they are. that's not to say that diaw is a stiff, but i wonder how he would do in a more conventional offense. |

I was not impressed with boris' first few months with ATL.
so I asked sky 'bout him, since he was familiar with diaw's background.
sky simply stated that once diaw acclimates himself to the nba, he saw nothing but upside for him. strangely enough, both diaw and barbosa (another sky pick) BOTH began to show progress.
I find it very interesting that both guys picked by sky, ending up on the same PHX team.

Sky should be a professional scout. That guy is a genius. Too bad he doesn't post here anymore (I'm not sure why.) |

I try to occasionally drop a line with sky.
he's really into track & field.
sky went to the world championships in helsinki this past year.
he knows that I love the decathalon. we've got a good one in bryan clay from azusa pacific (via hawaii).
always respect his opinions on any sport he wants to talk about.
btw, since we're on the topic of potential turned into actuality & that I'm always on the lookout for good players.
here's three players that I like. been following all three, there ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that detroit can keep all three talents.

...........how is detroit drafting these gems?
the pistons drafted late. who'd they get?
jason maxiell 26th, alex acker 60th & amir johnson 56th.
IMO, at some point in time, all three players will be playing in the nba & eventually making solid contributions (especially maxiell & acker).
wow, this maxiel kid has major skills......... |

Diaw is playing pretty nicely. They didn't give him enough playing time in Atlanta. And this offense suits him. I don't think he would be this successful with a slower tempo offense. |

Amir Johnson is a shot-blocking MACHINE.
Imagine a more PF-oriented Josh Smith. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. He guards people, like shuts 'em down. Then, to do 'dat on 'da offensive end. It's like 'Damn, I can't score on him AND he about to bust my ass." |
