|

"Golden State and Indiana could not consummate a Ron Artest trade before Sacramento swooped in for No.93."
"But you can bank on the Warriors and Pacers talking again this summer, if not sooner, regarding another big-name trade possibility: Jermaine O'Neal. The Warriors believe a lot of their problems, as they faded from a 12-6 start to a 12th consecutive season out of the playoffs, stem from the lack of a low-post scorer with real size. O'Neal, as a result, is said to be high on Golden State's list, with general manager Chris Mullin a natural trading partner with Indiana given his close ties to the franchise as a former Pacer."
"It remains to be seen whether the Pacers are indeed prepared to part with O'Neal to start over completely, but it doesn't hurt that Mullin has several young trade assets -- such as Ike Diogu (deemed off-limits in the Artest talks), Mickael Pietrus and the fast-rising Monta Ellis -- in spite of the club's postseason drought."

Yeah - Warriors do have some chips.
But the Pacers would be idiots to trade O'Neal. He is their only superstar and unless they can get back an All-Star, it would be a silly thing to do.
O'Neal should be shopped - but only for players that can go east and be All-Stars.
So unless the Warriors are offering J-Rich + Diogu - the Pacers would be better off with O'Neal. |

Some of the Warrior fans think they can get him for Troy Murphay only.

If Bird/Walsh dealt their all-star for another white stiff that can shoot and board (Artest-Peja) - I think Pacers are literally doomed.
I'm sure the Warriors fans think they can get O'Neal by trading Murphy and Pietrus. But IMO the Pacers would be complete morons if they sent JO to GS without atleast getting J-Rich + a big back (Diogu/Biedrins/Foyle) in the deal.

I think JO will end up being the primary piece in a package for KG. That appears to be by far the most attractive possibility for Minnesota. _________________ Nerd rock in progress.

ShadyG, that is deal that is so likely that I can't even stand it...
If KG is serious this time that is already a done deal... They are all just waiting till it's legal to say so... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.."

Agreed with Wolfpac...if it's Richardson and Diogu the Pacers gotta listen. I love JO's game, but he's always hurt. If the Pacers don't think they can re-load quickly to put together a contending team, they might want to pull the trigger on something like this. Diogu's size wouldn't matter as much in the east... |
