I heard on the radio today that Oaks Christian high school's Jimmy Clausen has announced that he will attend Notre Dame. If you haven't heard of him, he is the best high school QB in the nation, and the best I have ever seen. His brothers both attended Tennessee, so I thought they might have a shot at him, but I was hoping he would sign with one of the local schools, UCLA or USC. If you live in the LA area, take a trip to Calabasas this fall and see the kid play. He is truly amazing.

He's awesome from what I hear, way more skill than his older brother. Oaks Christian is just a couple miles from me and it's located in Westlake Village, just about 10 minutes from Calabasas.

And this season they are going to play St. Bonaventure out of Ventura, who is a Catholic high school football power. I would almost rather watch that game than a pro game.

As an ND fan I hope he's better than his brothers.

He shouldn't be compared to his brothers any more than Brent Gretzky should be compared to Wayne. Clausen has gotten a lot of hype, but from what I have seen, he's deserving. He's got a great arm, a super-quick release and accuracy along with arm strength, and he's got absolutely amazing technique. Great footwork and vision. As a sophomore (!), he threw for 3600, 58 TDs and only 6 picks. As a ND fan, you should hope that Beano Cook doesn't predict he'll win 3 Heismans, as he did with Pawlus.

It's a great pickup for the Irish - of course, nothing is signed just yet. OCHS will be on FSN a couple of times this year, so you can watch Clausen and Wendel Tyler's son Marc.
