From ESPN.com courtesy of who else but Jim Gray:

Quote:
After hitting shots Sunday afternoon that put the game into overtime and then beat the Phoenix Suns at the buzzer, Kobe Bryant went to the hospital, where his wife, Vanessa, gave birth early Monday morning to their second child.

Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant was born at 2:03 a.m. in Orange County, Calif. ESPN's Jim Gray reported that she was 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 18.5 inches long.

Mother and baby were said to be doing well.

"The arrival of our new daughter Gianna early this morning is such an incredible blessing for me and my family," Bryant said in a statement. "We are all full of beautiful emotions after such an incredible day."

The Los Angeles Lakers star and his wife also have a daughter named Natalia, who turned 3 years old in January.

Is it Gianna, or Jianna??... Jianna means "God's Grace"... How appropriate, to our last win!!

Lets merge this thread with the more popular one about Kobe's new baby.

Still want to know if Kobe has supernatural powers.

I spent the last few hours learning everything the internet could teach me about Gianna. What a brilliant adult she was going to become.

He and Kobe Bryant were close. Kobe challenged him to be great, and was Giannis’ biggest fan.

This is so sad to read in retrospect and shows how time flies I remember when this post was made.

Though I forgot about the GW until now then they lost the series shortly after.

I am surprised Shaq never brought up his daughter being born minutes apart from Gigi though..

Kobe saw her come into the world and also leave the world

Not to be that guy but I'll be that guy: Shaq's mentioned it a few times in the past couple days - it blew my mind when I first heard about it, and made this seem all the more cruel

Yes, I started listening to Shaq's podcast from monday on my drive to work this morning. I heard him mention it there.

I, too, remember when this post was made. Can't believe how much time has passed since then, and yet it wasn't nearly enough.

Watching Gigi play, it's amazing how she really was a mambacita. Same mannerisms, facial expressions, that killer in the eyes look. She was going to change women's basketball. I truly believe that. oof...hurts man.
