I expect the refs to back of tonight a little bit, and not try and dictate the game as much. They basicly gave game 5 to the Suns at the end of the 2nd qtr.

If the game is close going into the 2nd half, then the Lakers will take it.

Luke Walton will have a good game tonight, and Kobe will go off in the fourth.

Lakers 107
Suns 99

I don't. With all the tension in this series I figure they'll call it tight.

Ah, NO. The Refs will be calling this game T-I-G-H-T! We have to be disciplined and careful.

If they call it tight, then kwame may get in some foul trouble early again, but I like the job that Turiaf did when he came in for Kwame. The refs eventually have to let these guys play. If we play our inside game, then it will frustrate the suns, cuz they are so small inside.

I feel really good about this game tonight. This is is a big win for us, and to me when we win tonight, and we will, then it makes Nash look bad.

Very much so...there's no way this game will be as lopsided as the last. There's will be was less contact allowed. Hopefully it get the overly agressive Suns in foul trouble. Pray for no Javie...hopefully he's assigned to the Heat game tonight

I think they'll call it tight, but not stupid tight. By that I mean some of the fouls Kwame picked up in PHoenix were absurd. He'd make a typical spin move with his defender behind him, the defender would flop upon any contact and they'd call an offensive foul. That's absurd. EVERY post player is allowed to back up his opponent and spin towards the basket. If Phoenix only has a 90lb wimp on Kwame, that doesn't instantly make Kwame's move an offensive foul. It just means the guy can't hold his ground and is flopping as a defense.

Ideally, they'll let normal moves play out but not allow grabbing and pushing and both hands on players, which they allowed alot in game 5.

Yes I think you and I are on the same page here. That is what I mean, is that Kwame and Odom will be able to get their points down low without being called for an offensive foul. Also I think the Lakers will play tougher defense, and the Suns will be expected to not flop.

I think the word is out, that the Suns have been doing alot of flopping during this series, and that will end tonight.

Actually, I hope it IS Javie. He's no nonsense and grabbing a hold of Kobe's jersey will be called a foul. Javie's a pain in the butt, but he's consistent with what he calls on both ends of the court. Impeding the progress of a player will not be allowed, and he doesn't fall for flopping as a defensive tactic, either.

Javie and Danny Crawford would be my choices for 2 of the 3 refs.

whats this, "careful" thing about. i hate that. whats does this mean. dont go hard when going to the whole. dont go strong when going up for a layup or dunk. dont drop step or else they might think you're elbowing or hooking, just cause. This is why i cant stand flopping. it makes offensive players walk a tight rope just to get to the basket. its not supposed to be like that.

If the refs call it tight both ways it will benefit the Lakers, even if some key Lakers are in foul trouble. If anyone from Phoenix gets in foul trouble tonight it will really screw them up because their bench is so thin. There's a very good chance a couple Phoenix players will foul out tonight if the refs are calling it early, just because D'Antoni will have to leave them in there, even with foul trouble because he's got nobody else to turn to.

Careful does not mean apathetic. It's about playing smart, efficient, disciplined basketball. Be smart and careful with the ball, as every possession is crucial. I didn't say passive basketball.

I think since they suspended Raja they are gonna be real tight on the Lakers and lenient on the Suns who are at an obvious disadvantage. Not to mention David Stern must be foaming at the mouth in anticipation of a Kobe vs. Raja Game 7 and the Saturday national audience it would draw. Sorry folks but the writing is on the wall....NBA=WWE and saturday's game is gonna be a ratings goldmine for Mr. Stern. I'm sure this is exactly why Raja did not receive a 2 game suspension as he so obviously deserved. I hope I am being ridiculously paranoid but the NBA is the only sport I watch that I can clearly tell the refs are biased towards one side or another ( with exception to this years SuperBowl but thats a whole different story). The only good thing is the NBA can't control how well a team shoots and they can only call so many BS delay of games before us L.A. people rush the floor and open up a can of whoop ass on the Zebras. Detroit ain't got nothing on a good old fashion L.A. riot.

Sorry, but I don't buy that nonsense that David Stern calls up the refs and say, "Pst, hey, make sure you guys have the Suns win tonight, okay?"

That's just silly. The NBA would actually not want to risk the Lakers NOT winning game 7 in Phoenix and with such a young and inexperienced team, they could very easily wilt under a game 7 pressure on an opponent's court. Kobe and the Lakers are a HUGE ratings draw and the league would love nothing better than to know the Lakers are continuing on. That said, it's on the players to win it or lose it. Let's stop with the conspiracy theory excuses already. It's the same thing every year.

A Lakers win today nets the league 2 Lakers/Clippers weekend games. Sure, a loss gets a Kobe/Bell game 7, but I think the money still balances out on the other side of the scale.

Exactly.

Slow down every possesion. Pass up wide open 3's if they are too early in the clock.
