Good question as both shows are similiar in that if you jumped in the middle of the series, its hard to follow along.

I liked 24, and Keifer Sutherland is terrific in it. I watched the first year and half of the season, but because of traveling, I missed a lot of shows and found it a bit hard to get back in so I've haven't followed it.

Lost, is kinda the same way, except its got more mysteries.

While I really like Lost, maybe you're better off with 24, as it gives a more satisfactory ending after each season, and there's more seasons too. Lost on the other hand, has a way of adding more mysteries per episodes, which is part of the appeal -- you just want to know the meaning of what happened, kinda of like X-files.

In short, 24 has good action, and drama, and has more resolution at the end of each season, while Lost, in my opinion, has a cooler setting, a great cast of different nationalities, and compelling but at the same time mind-boggling plot twists.

Both shows are really addicting though.

will you watch them more than once? you might want to try the video store or the public library if you're not going to. or ebay. I got season 1 & 2 of las vegas for under $40 off ebay.

I like 24, but couldn't get into Lost. I taped the first couple of episodes, but couldn't get past the first one. Then, during the summer, I tried to give it another shot, but still couldn't get through the first episode.

24

Atleast for me(my opinion) 24 is a much much better show. And like gildedgirth said the season finale is much more satisfying while lost just gives you more questions and never answers the main question.

I've kinda watched an episode of 24... I'm still thinking about renting the first season on DVD but i'm way behind 24....

Lost on the other hand has only been on for two season and well I rented the whole first season and fell in love with it!!!

But listen to Gildedgirth tho he seems to know what he's talking about..

I watch both shows religiously. But if you want to watch an entire show, one episode after another watch 24. The first season was one of the best. And you will probably want to watch it straight through. It is that good. Set aside an entire day or weekend and just watch it. You will be in heaven. Lost on the other hand is also a great show, but has its slow points and you even get a little bored after a while. Not 24, you will become addicted within the first ten minutes of the first episode. Don't believe.....watch it and you will.

In my opinion, you should DEFINITELY buy season 1 of 24. You won't be let down. Absolutely amazing and intense season. I think it might be my favorite season ever.

I have seen both shows in their entirety so far and my opinion is you go with LOST. Both first seasons are amazing, but I think Lost has too much substance to ignore.

If you're really into action, then 24 is the way to go. But if you're into a show involving a little bit more as far as character growth and just brilliant writing overall, then Lost is your best bet. The only complaint you might have is all the questions that will arise, but that's half the fun..

gildedgirth is dead on.

If you want immediate satisfaction, blazing through a season of 24 on dvd will give that to you.

Everyone's still trying to figure out exactly what the hell is going on in Lost. So if you don't mind a long mystery that is still going on and you won't have figured out by the end of season 1 (or season 2 for that matter), Lost is the right choice.

Lost is GREAT. The scripts are great, the acting is great, the ability to go online and join with a bunch of geeks to talk about Lost is great. I love that show! I've seen a few 24s and I have to agree that it's more of a gimmick...

24 a gimmick? LOL. 24 is easily the best show in world history. Ask anyone. It's true.

24....end of discussion. Season 1 is brilliant.

WARNING: Watching 24 is addicting and will transform you into a social outcast. I found myself neglecting Friends, Family, School, and Work watching the first season on DVD.

I have never got into watching Lost. I guess the whole realism of that many people surviving a plane crash and being stuck on a island together doesn't interest me. If I want to watch a bunch of people stuck on a Island together I'll just tune into Survivor.

I watch both. First season of 24 is definitely better than the first season of Lost. I've purchased it now for at least 3 people as gifts and they were hooked and bought the next couple seasons.

That said, Lost has had an excellent season this year. The ending of 24 this season with the stupid recording that can't be recorded again over Jack's phone or listened to by anyone is major hole.

Lost is excellent. I am loving the spinoffs, the fake Hanzo corp commercials they've stuck with the other commercials in the last couple of episodes. The fake Hanzo website. The crazy site hacks on that site. The fake Oceanic-Air web site. All the layers of intrigue and mystery in that show are very entertaining.

First season of 24 kicks ass, though...so do the next couple.

Prison Break might be my second favorite show behind 24. Survivor #3 big finale Sunday.

Actually, you don't know whether they really survived, are dead, or whether they are part of some psychological experiment or what teh whole island really is as you go through the show.
