Mavs' Terry suspended one game without payAssociated Press
DALLAS -- Mavericks guard Jason Terry will miss Game 6 against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night after being suspended one game by the league Thursday for punching San Antonio's Michael Finley in the closing seconds of Game 5.
The punch likely occurred either when or after Terry was on the ground trying to control a loose ball. San Antonio's Manu Ginobili and Finley tied him up, forcing a jump ball with 3.4 seconds left. Terry missed a shot after that, allowing the Spurs to hold on for an 98-97 victory that kept the Mavericks from advancing to the conference finals.
Dallas still leads the series 3-2. If San Antonio wins, Game 7 would be Monday night on the Spurs' home court.
After practice Thursday, Terry was finishing shooting before speaking to reporters when he was called to the locker room by coach Avery Johnson. He didn't return. There was no immediate comment from club officials. _________________ "I wish I could draw a picture of the look on their faces..... For a time, it was like he was on the court by himself. I saw the news a few minutes ago and was wondering why. Didn't see any punches by anybody last night. _________________ "I think I've been forgotten about a little bit as far as what I can do on the basketball court,'' the Los Angeles Lakers star guard said, "People forget." |

Did you review it LD2k? I didn't see a punch in the replay, but wasn't able to get all the angles. _________________ Free advertising in Jefe's signature. Inquire within. |

Quit with that. It's not about wanting the Spurs to win, it's about being suspended for punching someone. The league has been very consistent about that fact. You're acting like they're only now enforcing the rule because it involves the Spurs. |

If Mavs dont pull out game 6 they are in big trouble. Also I find it funny Cuban has anything to say negative. His team has been getting away with everything this series the Spurs should probably already be in the WCF if the game was called fair.

Correct.
The Mavs AVERAGED 40 fta A GAME for the first 4 games. Including putting Dirk on the line for tying/winning ft's in 2 consecutive games.
Crazy to see loons on here who think the refs are for the spurs.

Basically what happened is after the first jump ball with seconds left in the 4th both Finley and Terry went for the ball and after the jumpball was called terry punched Finley in the balls. If you watched the game you might have seen Finley real mad and Duncan and Bowen holding him back from beating the crap out of Terry that was right after the punch to the balls. |

It goes by so quickly it's hard to tell what his intent was. I see the arm come up, but It's really quick. But I will echo the sentiment, the NBA ain't playing games with that physical stuff. I actually appreciate it.
This is going to be a major issue in the next game and seems similar to what happened with Bells in the Lakers series. I think the mavs can still win because they have a decent bench. |

Now you guys know why they're called the Sterns? Talk about a cake walk to the conference finals. Lets see how we can help out the sterns, I got it, how about suspending the mavs second leading scorer and clutch shooter for a phantom punch and we know the sp*rs aren't going to lose a game 7 at home. Nice going NBA. _________________ NBA Champs
