Yeah, it is always good to see someone conquer their personal demons, and for that reason alone I hope he makes a team, just so he sees the work was worth it. _________________ "Kobe Bryant is an absolute nightmare. Good for him but I wouldn't expect the Shawn Kemp from back in the day (ie high flying act). Still, wish him the best. |

Would be nice to have him compete again even at 5ppg.
A dunk from him, weigheng less than 350 pounds would be nice. |

He could teach a lot of young guys how to play in the paint! Shawn Kemp use to murder with GP back in the day! _________________ Thanks,

The best alley-opp duo ever.
shawn was a beat at the art of dunking. He always put some flair even in the most insignificant dunk.
Kemp's dunk over Alton Liston in 92 playoffs is unforgetable. |

Kemp actually would be a nice triangle fit. He can shoot, run now again, and should have some lift defensively. Plus I think he makes a heckuva mentor. |

Mentor? Wow...
Please don't give Mitch any ideas. Kemp born in 69, Brian Grant born in 72.... just to give you guys a little perspective. We were pissing and moaning about Grant, and some how we'll be happy with a guy who is older and been out of the league for several years? I don't thinks so. |

Brian Grant was making 15 million.
That's different than giving someone the minimum and a chance to make the roster. |

So if Grant was making $1.2 million we would have been happy with him wasting a roster space? The point is not the money, it's the production. Neither Grant nor Kemp will produce. If you want to give someone a chance, give it to the future, give it to an undrafted 22 year old with upside. |

You have to keep in mind that Brian Grant has never been a basketball player and Shawn Kemp? By far one of the best of his time. That's where we should start from. Kemp without both his legs and arms, weighting 500+ lbs. would still own Brian Grant on any given day.
Another difference is that Kemp hasn't had injuries like Grant. He's managed to avoid them and now if he has really done his conditioning work, he should be able to play 15-20 minutes at least. That's what you ask from such a player. He naturally isn't the high-flyer he used to be, but he could shoot, he was a good post player at both ends and I don't think all that much of it has been gone.
I don't know why we shouldn't have at least given him the chance to take part to our FA -camps. It isn't exactly very expensive and giving him the vets. min would have cost us $500k to $750k a year. Definately a better pick-up than McKie, Jackson, Green, etc. |

Wouldn't go so far, but he's gonna be solid for sure. Worth every penny he makes. |
