"Michael Jordan, who came ever-so-close to buying the Bucks a couple of summers ago, has made it clear he still wants to be an owner. And that’s why some NBA officials aren’t dismissing the possibility of Jordan and some of his deep-pocketed friends buying the Portland Trail Blazers"

If he does, we might have a trade partner if we ever wanted to drop Kwame. I know Jordan would love to have him back. _________________ SCHROEDER/CARUSO/COOK

Jordan owning a team would mean more media coverage for the league - which I am sure they wouldn't turn down.
I don't really care either way. I guess I would prefer Jordan was involved in the league in some aspect, so this wouldn't bother me in the slightest. _________________ "Why do you think bad things happen, anyway???" "So we have something good to look forward to."

They would end up in the lottery. He doesn't want to play with his reputation. Owning a team is much, much more safe. You can easily put the blame on your GM, coach or the players. You yourself can slip through. |

And he doesn't have to worry about getting fired again. _________________ SCHROEDER/CARUSO/COOK

You sure about that? Just ask Steve Belkin. The Hawks owners "fired" him for being the only one who opposed the Joe Johnson trade last summer. Although a judge recently allowed him to purchase the team, the point is that when there is a partnership of owners, you CAN still get fired. |

True. But we're speaking about Michael Jordan. You don't kick Michael Jordan out from a lottery-bound franchise. |

Based on his reputation, I get the feeling that Jordan wants his own team but he doesn't want to spend his own money to buy it.
My guess is that he's looking for a lot of outside investment and final control of all team functions. |
