it's tough to get a job out there. I only have an A.A. though. most of these places require 5 years experience with a bachelor's _________________ Thank you, Kobe. We love you. |

Nope...way too much money!! People up here are crazy. I go to Laker games each year...down at Staples. It's cheaper for me to buy tickets on ebay, buy a plane ticket, and got to the games in LA than it is to buy playoff tickets up here in Sacto. _________________ "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe and some more Kobe, with a sprinkling of Kobe and a huge fat scoop of double Kobe with Kobe sprinkles and Kobe sauce"

Being a graphic designer and having my own company I can tell you this much about breaking into the graphic design field... A degree is good but a portfolio and experience is what can make or break you.
I've interviewed kids from some of the best design schools (Art Center, Otis, Academy, major Universities, etc). It has always come down to portfolio and experience. Even when I was in the field looking for work I won out on positions by the sheer work I've done in my portfolio and my studio experience, mind you my academic career has only been some college.
My advice to you to you guys is to find a company or design studio you like and see if you can intern. In fact, intern as much as you can. Most likely you'll have to work for free but the learning experience, studio time, and the additions to your portfolio will go very far.
Alot of the design studios I outsource to and who outsource to me (you'll see alot of this in the field) strictly hire based on portfolio and whether or not the person has worked in a design studio before. |
