|
|
From Lazenby's blog: HERE
Quote: | Winter is quite pleased with the Lakers’ selection of UCLA guard Jordan Farmar in the draft.
In his physical tests with the team, Farmar “tested about as high as anyone ever has” in terms of speed, quickness, leaping, etc., Winter said.
However, there are other elements of Farmar’s game that please, the 84-year-old assistant coach, who has spent his life developing the triangle offense.
“He knows the game. He’ll be a good system player,” Winter said of Farmar. “I think he’s got a chance to be pretty good. I don’t know how long that will take.”
|
He's also impressed with Mo Evans and rehashes on the Shaq situation. |

Always nice to hear these added insights from Tex. Can't wait to see Farmar in the Tri this summer with Bynum and Co. I'm hopeful Farmar takes to the Tri like a fish to water.
Pretty interesting to hear that the NBDL team will share El Segundo facilities. Makes sense. The Triangle Academy. |

I have the feeling that he was a "student athlete" and probably did pretty good in school? |

I'm still confused...So did the Lakers draft Farmar or his stunt double (the one in ORL, and, apparently, Health South)? |

I've spent enough time bashing Farmar, but it certainly is a great sign that Tex likes Farmar. Hopefully Farmar proves me wrong and turns himself into a good player. |

My favorite part:

Don't be surprised is Farmar is the Lakers starter as soon as the end of the season. |

No body knows more about the tri than Winter and if he thinks Farmar's a good system player then that's good news. But it's nice to see that he has highly rated speed and quickness. I suppose the ankle problems that have been bothering him this season are gone. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I did not see Farmar his Freshmen year.
Did he look like a good athlete then.
He looked like a below average athlete at the collegiate level in 2006 now we are supposed to believe he is an Athletic Freak with a 42" Vert?
Some things just don't add up. |

Indeed. Does anyone know what exactly is wrong with his hip? Does he need a hip replacement because of some degenerative condition? Or is it something that can't be corrected surgically? |

Tex is really a tough guy. He bashes Kobe and Lamar openly.
If he says a certain player is good, then that certain play is good. |

He sprained both ankles over the course of the season, that's gotta hide a lot of athleticism. The team needed him to play, so he didn't take much if any time to recover, just played through it. |

Except the term "workout warrior" is usually reserved for those guys who have never shown anything in live action, but their measurables are off the chart.
At least with Farmar, we know he can play. What we didn't know was how athletic he was, because for some reason (injuries, system, who knows) he didn't show it off this season. _________________ fka ChuckNevittRules

The health of Farmar may have ended up making him a steal. It is very possible that a healthy Farmar would have improved dramatically on his Freshman year if he were healthy. If so he may have never been available even lcose to #26.
Quickness and defense have generally been the rap on Farmar, both of which would be seriously affected as a result angle injuries.
A healthy Farmar could be a real gem of a player. We know he has a 42' vertical leap, it is the defense and cutting that ankle injuries will have the most impact on. _________________ Rule = win titles

Maybe Evans is the defensive PG that the Lakers are looking for? |

I hope Farmar nails the 2 triangle sets. They're not going to load the kid with plays with the lack of practice time, but these are 2 EASY sets to learn. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
