Wow... it's been 10 years.
One of my friends is a trauma ward nurse who was called in that night for emergency community service (she was a Long Island resident). Instead of helping with survivors, she ended up consoling witnesses, which is something done as a stop-gap measure before mental health professionals could intervene. I talked with her that next morning, and she told me that several people had told her that they had seen what looked like a missle heading toward the plane prior to impact.
It defies logic, as I think something like a Stinger wouldn't have that can't of range. Yet what she told me was well ahead of all the reports (many Internet launched) that stated it was a terrorist missle attack or weapon-systems failure by a U.S. warship (impossible... our guys would talk). |
