I've been trying to find that online and cant find any data on this. I have noticed that on his TV show he NEVER stands next to anyone and the camera does pan up on him. But everyone who hates him makes fun of his height, how tall is he really? _________________ "Scoring the ball is pretty much like breathing to me." - Kobe Bryant

your best bet might be looking up the video of him being pwned by Jim Everett, Everett's around 6'5, Jim looks 5'4:
the (bleep) had it coming
Publicity stunt if you ask me.
I dont think so...what kinda publicity do you get from acting like a lil (bleep) after you call someone out?
That pretty much sums up sports writters, they only bark loud in the press. _________________ "Scoring the ball is pretty much like breathing to me." - Kobe Bryant

That made Rome's career dude. Believe what you want....but it looked staged from beginning to end.....bad acting on the part of both parties.
What kind of publicity do you get?......enough publicity for people to remember this interview a decade after.....that's really powerful publicity if you ask me.

Except for the fact, Everett didn't like Rome before the interview, nor after the interview. He went on the show, specifically to confront Rome about the "Chrissy" name-calling. Rome had been doing it for some time and was rather vile in his commentary.
You can believe it was staged all you want and it probably did wonders for his career. However, I doubt the other party was up for doing Rome any favors.

It actually gave Rome negative publicity. After that incident he was shunned by other sportwriters and journalists released from ESPN and had to basically start over in his career. Many people still hate Rome because of that incident.
But I agree Sportswriters and ESPN type guys are basically ALL cowards. _________________ "I was laying myself on the line by saying, if this doesn't work in three to four years, if we're not back on the top then I will step down because that means I have failed,"

I'll concede to your points. In hindsight, 10 years after the fact, it looked staged. Your points combined with Kobe>T-mac's post have me backtracking a bit now. From now on, I'll express my "publicity stunt" arguement as more of a consipracy theory.

You can compare and contrast with these photos here. It's Glenn Beck (who?) posing with a bunch of celebs, including Rome.
www.glennbeck.com/pictures/index.shtml
scroll down to the part where it says...GLENN WITH OTHER RADIO HOSTS AND CELEBRITIES.
mmmm....looks like this glenn guy is hunching down and rome is standing straight up. still not clear but i guess rome is in the tom cruise, al pacino range. _________________ "Scoring the ball is pretty much like breathing to me." - Kobe Bryant
I ran into the midget once in San Diego. He came up to about halfway up my chest, I would estimate he is 5-6.
That is why I laugh when he talks tough on the radio about pro athletes like he is going to call them out. Any WNBA player could work him over with ease. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

Now THIS GUY really hates Jim Rome. And as far as the height question, according to this guy:
Quote:
Now Rome's on TV, too. In the ads, they have these bizarre shots of him from below, trying to make him look like he's of normal height. The Japanese probably had to invent a special camera that could get low enough to give him the illusion of height.
I don't think it is officially recorded anywhere. I'd say, from meeting him on a couple of occasions, that he would most likely be around 5'10, 5'11. He has a massive handshake though. So he might be considered "a tall" 5'11.

The imdb website reports him to be 6' exactly.
Hate to break it to you....but the posters on the Message board are refering to Morrisey's (Asexual frontman for the 80s band The Smiths) height....it just so happens that one of the memeber's login name is Jim Rome.
Is Jimmy worth listening to or watching? Honestly, I haven't watched or heard Rome since the Everett incident.
I like listening to him because I think he is hilarious. As far as sports analysis...he doesn't do any....his show is geared towards poking fun at athletes.....or calling them "Incredible" or (Surname) "Freaking" (Last name) whenever they do something spectacular.
I happened to catch him the other day...and he was talking about some dude who went #2 on the side of the road and subsequently got arrested. What I found hilarious was Rome's metaphor....he refered to it as "throwing mud on the side of the road."
