Another tough one, but I'd have to say in no particular order:

Redman - I'll get flak for this one, but his first 3 albums were ridiculous
Mos Def
Ras Kass
Nas
Rakim

Its Ice Cube, basically he wrote:

75% of NWA's lyrics (the other 25% credited to MC Ren)
90% of Westside Connection's lyrics.
Eazy-E's solo career lyrics (Boyz in the hood actually was Cube's song, but he gave it to Eazy)
His own solo lyrics (the best ones, real social critscism lyrics)

I also like Eminem, but Pac wrote about a whole lot more than thug life and his Mom.

and Eminem also wrote about Stan. which is a classic. people call people STANS instead of overzealous fans now because of that song. no reason to say Fanboy when you can call a guy a Stan.

and pac talked about what else? THUG LIFE. with a hint of black pantherism politics. But it was alwasy about the struggle of the youth in the inner city's usually or anyone else struggling in a similar fasion. like i said. i could careless. i liked it any how.

i dont care if you rap about blue suede shoes for 5 songs straight. if you're that good at it, it wont matter. that's the difference between a legend, and a guy who can put a few rhyming words together.

Yeah, Stan was actually one of my favorite songs by him. Funny that you mention the use of that new term, because the first time I heard somebody use it on a fanboy, I automatically knew where it came from.

As for 2Pac, it wasn't just his lyrics, its how he raps about it, his delivery, he would probably make a hit rapping about blue suede shoes actually

Eminem .... stuff on his first two album were just mindboggling.

Cube ..... because the rap game sounded more like him that any East Coast Artistafter his first albums & he made it cool to cuss

Biggie was nice. Delivery was just strong.

Eminem started nicely but since "The Real Slim Shady" his lyrics sucked... the last good one was Loose Yourself, nowadays I got no respect left for him.

Pac was a lil obsessed with Thug Life and Westside after he got out of prison but b4 that he wrote real deep lyrics.

I still say Ice Cube though.
