Is Dwyane Wade a top 5 player in this league? If so, are you saying he is better than Kobe, Lebron, Garnett, Duncan, Nowitski and/or Nash?

Personally I do not think so.

well when you have no jumpshot, get 80% your points from ft line and inside the paint, shoot 11% from three point land, and aren't even double teamed on a consistent basis, then your EVEN SLIGHTLY compared to Jordan, or kobe...you are overrated....Not to mention some magazines list you as the games best player when you dont deserve to even be in the top 5.

TOP 5 PLAYERS IN THE NBA 2006 (most skilled, talented, best all around)

1) Kobe Bryant
2) Lebron James
3) Kevin Garnett
4) Tim Duncan
5) Nowitszki or Nash

AND I would take, TMAC over wade anyday. Even to some extent Carmelo, he is smarter and a better shooter.

How can somoene who shoots like this, be considered a top 5 player in this league. Keep in mind those % are with shaq as a decoy and without any double teams.

http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/massmediany/wadesc.jpg

Wade is a great slasher, and the best in th game as of now, ONLY BECAUSE kobe has purposely decided to stop attacking/slashing as intensly to 1) prolong his career, 2) sore knee bothered him. Kobe is a more creative ball handler with a quicker first step and doesn't need to cup/carry the ball AS MUCH to get inside ( like wade, and kobe himself in his younger days)

He is a great athlete with a great body, and a decent work ethic, and quite frankly he will be a good player in this league , but right now, IMO he is not a top 5 player in this league. When a guard cant shoot from 3 point land and doesn't play commited stellar defense you simply dont deserve to be top 5 player in this league.

And dont start the "wade hater" arguements...He is my 3rd/4th favorite player to watch in this league, after Kobe, Mcgrady and Garnett.

I don't know Top 5 because other positions require different things - but he IS a top 5 SG, easily.

Wade is arguably a top 5 player, personally, I think

Kobe
LeBron
Duncan
Nowitski
Nash

are all more valuable

Wade is arguably up there with the likes of

Yao
Garnett
Iverson

who are also arguably for top 5 respectively.

This year will be Timmy's test,.. to see if he's just a shell of what he use to be. Personally, I think the injuires killed him (and his team) last year... this year will determine if he's still top 5... as of right now,... I have in the 5 position, just ahead of KG..

Wade is not even a top ten player. You take away the refs and Fat fk and he's no better than Vince Carter, w/o the jump shot. He's also easily the most overrated player in sports. And his defense is just atrocious.

Wade is obviously top 5, no doubt about it.

And better than KG.

WAY better than AI.

Edge over Kobe and much more efficient than TMac

Allen iverson is so much more skilled and complete and fundamentally sound that wade it is not even funny. That man is lethal, wade is not.

I won't even bring up the "Better than KG" because that's just utterly ridiculous. I'd EASILY take KG over Wade any damn day.

But the "Edge over Kobe"...? What's his "edge" over Kobe? Explain.

Wade in 2004-05

Regular Season:

24.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.8 apg, .478 FG, .762 FT, .289 FG3

Playoffs:

First Round vs. NJN - 26.3 ppg, 8.8 ppg, 6.3 apg, .500 FG, .833 FT, .500 FG3

Semis vs. WAS - 31.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 8.0 apg, .531 FG, .750 FT, .000 FG3

Wade in 2005-06

Regular Season:

27.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 6.7 apg, .495 FG, .783 FT, .171 FG3

Playoffs:

ECF vs. DET - 26.7 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 5.5 apg, .617 FG, .808 FT, .250 FG3

Finals vs. DAL - 34.7 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.8 apg, .468 FG, .773 FT, .273 FG3

Elite Company:

Joined Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan as the only players to average 25 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds, while shooting .500 from the field in a playoff series. Accomplished in two consecutive playoff series in 2004-05 vs Nets and Wizards.

Fifth player in NBA history with at least 30 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds in a playoff game (Game 2, 2004-05 Semis vs. WAS). Joins Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Walt Frazier, and Oscar Robertson.

Holds the record as only player in NBA history to average at least 30 points on 69% field goal percentage for four consecutive NBA playoff series games with 30.8 ppg on .695 FG (2005-06 ECF vs DET, Games 1-4). Previous record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 34.8 ppg on .663 FG.

Holds the NBA record for most post-season points scored (1,272) over the first three years in the league. One of only four players (Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) to score at least 1,000 points over that period.

Holds the record for youngest player to score 1,000 post-season points.

You're in rarified air when you sit alongside the likes of Cousy, The Big O, Wilt, The Logo, Elgin, Kareem, Clyde, Magic, Bird, and Jordan after only three years in the league. How exactly is that overrated? How does that not qualify you as a top five player in the league?
