2 say we're not making the playoffs.
One has us winning the division.

Last season I made the mistake of underestimating the ability of Phil and Kobe to co-exist. I won't make the same error twice. In fact, Vladimir Radmanovic helps make them a 50-win team.

Only one analyst predicts the Lakers to finish above 6th? The Clippers are this year's vogue pick. I don't think they'll match last season's win total (which was, what, two more than the Lakers?). |

see here's my problem with some of these so called Experts. everytime i see stuff like this. I start to think maybe I missed my calling.
Quote: | Chad Ford on the Lakers: Kobe and Phil did it last season, but this season the Lakers need big performances from Kwame and Vlade to hold off the teams that made bigger improvements over the summer. I'm not sure Kwame or Vlade have it in them.
DIVISION RANK: 3 | CONFERENCE RANK: 9 |
Quote: |
Chad ford on the Hornets:The talent upgrades won't amount to a huge jump in the standings. But if Paul continues to amaze, Chandler finds his offense
DIVISION RANK: 4 | CONFERENCE RANK: 8 |
So wait a minute. You believe that Chandler will Find his offense, before you believe Kwame and Vlade have it in them? When we all witnessed kwame step his game up in all areas as the season progressed. And we all know what Vlade can do.
Look folks, sure anything is possible. Tyson has the physical ability to be a nice ball player offensively. But he has NEVER. let me say that again. ..... NEVER had any type of back to the basket moves whatsoever, nor face up moves, nor a jumpshot. Sooooooo.... You would have to be his mother or dreaming, to think something is going to magically change for him over 1 summer. Like i said, anythings possible. But come on now. I've seen the guy in High school. the only thing that has changed is he's learned how to Rebound very well and use his jumping ability to block shots without getting into serious foul trouble. which is great. But Offense? NO. Thats like assuming Big Ben wallace is going to get a Crossover and an around the back move over the summer. Just cause.
and lastly, I'm not mad at anyone going with the hornets for the last spot and kicking the lakers out. just come with good reasoning. thats all.
he atleast couldn't changed his comment about the hornets offseason pickups. and said, that those pickups will pay dividends and as long as Peja can stay healthy and hit a jumper like we know he can. the hornets can get that 8th spot. I wouldn't be bothered by that one bit. |

Damn Greg Anthony... I guess, he did not get a memo on who IS the best player in the league.

Can someone do me a favor and inform me of the huge upgrades other teams have? I keep hearing how other teams have gotten better so the Lakers moves are insignificant.
Sorry I really didn't keep up over the summer. _________________ "You Must Be Willing To Give Up That Which Can Be Lost In Order To Gain That Which Cannot Be Lost." - FORTUNE COOKIE |

My version of the emoticon ratings:
Chad Ford Good comeback after predicting the Lakers 12th place in the west last year
Greg Anthony: Laker supporter. Good job realizing that Kobe is the best player and not buying into that Wade hype.
Everyone who picked the Lakers either 7th or 8th seed: Decent
If you picked the Lakers to miss the playoffs:  And how do you like your crow? Well done or medium?
If your're interested here's what they said about the Lakers last year
05-06 Ranking Only 4 guys picked us to make the playoffs, and we were 8th seed in all. _________________ Double rings > Double rainbow |

Speaking of "experts", I was listening to Colin Cowherd this morning talk about the NBA. Stick to football, Colin. He was talking about the over-unders for win totals, specifically the part I heard was about the Lakers and Clippers. He thinks the Lakers at 43.5 are too high and the Clippers at 46 are too low and that the difference between the Lakers and Clippers is way more than 3 games. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

Marc Stein also predicted that the Lakers would lose to the Suns in 5, if not a sweep. |

I think the preseason schedule right now, is just upside down....
2006-07 Pacific Standings
TEAM W L GB PF PA
Golden State 5 0 0 116.2 108.0
LA Clippers 4 1 1 97.4 94.6
Sacramento 4 3 2 99.9 95.4
LA Lakers 4 3 2 96.7 94.7
Phoenix 2 4 4 99.8 99.5
Lakers will win 48 or 49 games, getting the 4th or 5th seed |

The biggest issue I see is that all these analysts are uninformed. Its slightly understandable since they have to follow all the NBA teams but none of them mention Turiaf who should make a huge impact this year (even though he was overlooked by most other fans last year). No one talks about sashas improvement. No one talks about Bynums improvement. No one talks about how impressive farmar has been this pre season.
i think these analysts should follow what I do when it comes to mid-term elections. Not even vote at all cuz they are not informed enough about all the teams to make accurate predictions. |

I like all the negative reports and "season previews."
I LOVE being the underdawgs!!
I LOVE being overlooked and counted out!!
That's exactly what this team needs to band together!!
It's gonna be a great year!! _________________ Everything. Changes. |
