kobe's shot selection is beyond moronic. They had the lead down to 4, then he goes off taking one ill advised shot after another, lead back up to double digits
kobe cant do it all alone _________________ "I wish I could draw a picture of the look on their faces..... For a time, it was like he was on the court by himself. It's like God put Kobe here for us to watch him play basketball." - LO On KB8's Performance Against the Clips 07/01/06
This may be loss, but you had to figure it would be with a deep team like the Mavs on a back to back. I'm not surprised or upset by it, this was a good game.
Seems like this how this likes to operate on the road:
1st quarter- Let the team shoot lights out, they're not going to shoot that well all game.
2nd quarter- Come back and match opponents play, down but not out.
3rd quarter- Play stiffling, hustle D, take lead.
4th quarter - Make or break with gambles on both ends of the floor.
Tonight, didn't quite work because the home team all over the league has the crowd factor no matter what the score.
Look at this way...this team made it interesting on the road. There's no way the mavs are shooting 60% on the LAKERS floor- you can garanteed a win barring injury.

But if Luke plays HIS game, i.e. not forcing shots relentlessly as if that's how LO even plays to begin with, then we win this game without LO. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. We got the split..thats all we can ask for..we are 8 games over 500 which is really good..this isn't May...no reason to talk about seeding right now..its December..we can worry about seeding when its March/April..not now..let's just go home and get some home cooking
hey M_B...still think lamar has no impact on the game?
could have used the ole "fill in the blanks" treatment don't ya think?
When have I ever said that LO is useless? Most nights, his "fill-in-the-blanks" game is good. But come playoff time, it won't be enough. When LO's aggressive, he's so much better than just a "fill-in-the-blanks" kind of player.
Lamar played better than anyone on the roster in the playoffs. He was his usual fill in the blanks self.

i agree msb can someone ban that asswipe
Shut up you moron, learn the game before you write. The game was down to 4 when kobe started jacking 3 threes, the lead balloons to double digits then bryant fianlly retturns to the mid-range game. Had he kept going to the 15 ft jumpers, lakers would still be in the game. Again you stupid fool watch!
Dallas just outplayed the Lakers, guys. They are a better team than the Lakers without Odom. This is hardly something we should be despressed out.
How soon you guys forget the Lakers beat a good Rockets team last night without Odom too?
Stop acting like the Lakers can beat anyone even without their 2nd best player. If it were like that, the Lakers would be a 70 win team.
Just calm down .... Dallas is a top 3 team in the NBA. Houston without T-Mac is a playoff team but not a great team. So I still think we can beat the good teams without Lamar, but the very good teams ... some problems will arise unless Kobe wins it by himself.
Again .. calm down and remember that the team just won yesterday without Lamar. So far 1-1. If we can win 50 to 60% of the games without the best playmaker, rebounder and post player off the team - that is a huge testament to the team.
And Phil said it himself. There is no replacing Lamar, the Lakers will just have to compete harder and beat the the average to crap teams.

Phil Jackson cost the L.A. Lakers this game. Plain and simple.
His REFUSAL to go with a Kwame Turiaf frontcourt late in the 3rd and ESPECIALLY in the 4th quarter was the biggest gaffe of the game.
Had he done that simple thing....we could have won this game.
A turning point in that fourth can be pointed out to Kobe's block of harris, Farmar picking up the ball and getting stripped right back before being able to pass it to Kobe.
Harris lays it in for the go ahead basket 85-83. That shifted momentum.
Had that not happened, we might have taken the lead and gotten the mavs on their heals.

Sorry, you're the moron.
The lead ballooned to double digits because none of the Lakers could make a shot. It wasn't just Kobe. Luke and Kwame both missed easy layups that they normally make.
Then, they gave up open shots and easy layups on the other end.
The Lakers simply got tired and had let down after let down. If this wasn't a back to back, we would have won; if Lamar had played, we would have blown them out. _________________ Jeffs

Really wanted a win tonight, but we obviously needed Lamar out there. It's frustrating, but they just have to bounce back next game. No point being upset with anybody this time. Some plays just didn't shake out in our favor. _________________ If you meet the Buddha in the lane, feed him the ball. ~Phil Jackson

Just please, explain why Luke was so overly aggressive? I don't understand that? He was selfish, in fact. Just forcing shots everytime he touched the ball.
That timeout Phil called early in the 3rd? That was to call Luke out, because Kwame had the post and Luke wasn't even looking to pass it. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. glad the team put up a fight, even if they lost...back to back is always difficult, particularly when the 2nd night is against a team many pick to make it back to the finals...
like i said in a previous thread, we go .500 over the next few games while lamar is out and the lakers will be alright...
next up: round 2 with the rockets followed by the wizards - both at home...
-Second game of a back to back on the road.
-Without our 2nd option LO
-Dallas getting ALOT of home cooking calls IMO
-We had it within our graps for a good part of the 2nd half
-Lost by 9
Big deal, it might sound cliche, but it's almost as good as a win. Considering everything we did pretty damn good, like Wolf said, if we could beat every team under these circumstances then we'd be easily a 70 win team. This is reality.
Still a good game, nothing to truly be disappointed about unless you want to start nitpicking some things. Nothing wrong with that, but no need to be disappointed.
