Its official, arenass is on my list of players I cant stand. He continues to run his mouth. How the hell does bribing, yes i said bribing, make fans respect you more? Thats just being a fake person.

And as for Caron, the quote comes out of Arenass' mouth so i dont know how credible it is but i've always felt like there has been some underlying hostility towards kobe. For example his comments about kobe's 81 comes to mind.

"I was telling, Caron (Butler), 'How does Kobe get his Mojo back?' Well, if he gave out 20,000 jerseys of that No. 24, oh man, L.A. would eat it up because of how powerful he is. But he doesn't do it."

And this little gem as well.....

Welcome to the wonderfully warped basketball mind of Arenas, who confessed to something on Tuesday that no one else of his stature in the sport would dare do. Three years ago, he traded two pairs of his sneakers and his Wizards jersey to a sporting goods store for a box of all-star game ballots. He just sat down and went to work.

"I just know I can be a starter," he told himself, and he kept punching the holes in the ballots for himself and his teammates, Jamison and Larry Hughes. What's more, he said he's heard stories of NBA all-stars hiring people to fill out ballots, backing trucks into garages with busy-bee pals working to manipulate the vote. To Arenas, it didn't sound like a bad idea. He just wishes everyone would stop acting so cool, so above it all, and get over themselves already.

Oh and PS, the author of the article is an arse as well.

Well, that quote is there because Arenas is giving out 20,000 of his jerseys at a home game, which is pretty damn cool.

There was also this quote FTA from Arenas on Kobe:

"It's hard to go at somebody who is the best player in the league," Arenas said. "That's just like Dominque going at M.J. It's like, 'Come on, you know you're not even in his league.'

I think you're overreacting.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Gilbert Arenas got the ball with the score tied and 6 seconds to play. He dribbled downcourt, read Charlie Bell's retreating feet, stopped and stroked a perfect jumper 32 feet from the basket.

"Once I let it go, I'm like, 'That's in,"' Arenas said. "I don't even need to look at this one."

He didn't. He turned with a snarl and a strut, strolling away with his back to the basket as if it were another shot on the playground. The ball swished through the net, giving Arenas another signature moment to his growing legacy and the Washington Wizards a 108-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

"I thought he would take one more dribble," Bell said. "I give him credit. They say he has no conscience, and he doesn't."

Also, from another article, extended version of the quote from the yahoo story:

http://www.nbcsports.com/nba/763126/detail.html

Arenas has made a career of proving people wrong when they slight him, but he said he won't return the smack against one of his favorite players.

"It's hard to go at somebody who's the best player in the league," Arenas said. "That's like Dominique (Wilkins) going at MJ (Michael Jordan). C'mon now, you're not even in his league, so there's no point. ... This guy has three rings. He was all-God."

Exactly. The hate is silly. Gil is just promoting himself and loving the attn. He's hilarious.

Its hard to hate Gil. Yeah he's annoying at times but he's not a ref/media creation like Wade or LeBronze.

Yup. He's not out there faking injuries, whining to the refs, getting his eyebrows done for the cover of GQ and People's Most Beautiful people. Gil actually enjoys the game and has a ton of fun with it. Relax people. He didn't say anything derogatory towards Kobe and Kobe didn't say anything negative about him. Stupid media twisted and convoluted Kobe's words.

Kobe will always be a great player, always be more popular, but he'll never connect with the common, struggling soul the way that Gilbert Arenas does. People get it with Arenas because they understand his story, his journey. He's one of them.

Yep! I actually like Arenas and his game. It's not "manufactured" like some. Don't get me wrong, both Lebron and Wade are great talents and they are just taking what the refs give them even though they'd do just fine without the help. But Arenas, like Kobe, does his stuff without any real favouritism being played out. That's not Wade nor LeBrons fault, but ultimately it does make what Gilbert and Kobe are able to do just a bit more impressive.

Ummm, how is giving fans jerseys being fake? Most basketball fans would love to get a free jersey from any NBA player. It is a pretty cool gesture actually.

Ummm, ok. So the guy just admitted he does what every other player does but won't admit. And?

So neither of these things is really annoying, and, even if they were, the way the guy is balling this season, he can damn well say and do whatever he wants. When you're dropping 30/4/6/2 and shooting 40% from beyond the arc, and your team has a winning record, you've got a lot of room to talk.

And this is why I can't hate him. Let's hope Kobe brings it in Feb.

PS: I like how Arenas "dropped 60 on Kobe" according to the article

Gotta love Gil. For some reason, the media doens't. Agree with the sentiment above (except for the poster), he can out-score and out-personality Dwade and Lebron, but who gets all the attention?

I doubt guys like Kobe, Vince, Yao, KG, AI, and Duncan do that kind of stuff. These guys have been top vote getters for years. I could see Shaq doing it when Yao came into the leauge and Shaq was on the West. But probably guys around the same level as Gilbert might do it.

^By same level as Gilbert, I meant in terms of votes received, not talent wise.

I watched the end of the game on league pass..... He actually turned to go back the other way while the ball was still in the air,as it swished in at the buzzer he did'nt even glance back...

In an inyerview with Butler after the game Butler said that Gil said to him "just get me the ball, I'll end it right now".....he talked the talk, but walked the walk.....I give him credit. 32 points 11 boards, and 7 assists I think.....Either way,we all know who the best really is...Kobe, and no it's not because he is a laker....

If you're a fan of bball, you can't be serious. Arenas is turning out to be a nice individual endeavor in the NBA! Here's a guy who was not close to a top 10 pick, not Stern's poster boys like the wade-lebron-melo trio... Arenas just goes out and kicks ass not needing any ref protect.

Arenas has earned his.... don't hate on him too much. He's played some out of this world ball the last month or so.

I liked him before he dropped 60.

I liked him after his initial comments in response to kobe.

He started to really freaking annoy me after he kept going on and on and on and on about it.

His comparison of stats made me dislike him. Hes not on Kobes level and he knows it.

But he sure does perform and you gotta respect that. Hes just a weird guy and says and does whatever he wants. None of it is "bad" though. Hes just trying to make the most of himself.

He isn't as good as Kobe - and he probably knows he'll come back down to earth somewhat, but man, he is one confident cat right now. He's riding the wave all the way in to shore on this one.

I agree with both above. Arenas is his own man his own creation. I respect him much more than the Dwyane Wades and the Michael Jordan's of this league. Arenas is doing this w/o Stern's endorsement.

I think as Laker fans we need to show some class and admire Gil for doing what he's doing. Wouldn't it be worse if he just torched us and no one else? Dude is lighting everyone up. Give credit where credit is due. Plus, his negative comments about Kobe have been exaggerated, he's paid Kobe plenty of respect.
Plus, showing Gil respect is a slap in the face to that fraud Wade. Say what you want, Gilbert is not a media creation. For that reason alone we I'll be jumping on the Arenas bandwagon.
