According to Hoopshype, PHI and C-webb have agreed to a buy out, would he play for the cheap in LA and would that work. I would think so, his legs are shot but he wouldn't need to be a primary weapon, he get's colse to double digit rebounds, and is pretty decent with his passing....it seems like a

line up coul be effective....certainly web has diminished but even if he was just an effective passer and rebounder that would be useful |

Well we all know the drill right. It will goes something like this: The AP is reporting that the Miami Heat are the front runners to land C-Webb. As it usually is with any big name player.
Seriously though for the vet's min I'd welcome him to this team with open arms. _________________ One Love....

My opinion on the C-Web, if he's put in the right situation, I think he makes a team better. I think if we added C-Web here especially for a minimum contract I think he would work well in the triangle, he would just need to learn the terminology of it all, because when he was with the Kings they did run versions of the triangle when he was there, so him picking it up would really be not a big problem, he would just have to get used to the terminology of it all. I think if he is very interested in the Lakers, I think other teams will go after him, just for the fact that it would be playing defense so the Lakers do not get better, even if he really wouldn't help the their team a lot. |

My opinion is to merge all the Chris Webber threads into one as there seem to be many going around recently. No offense to you, AV, this is not a personal mark against you. It's just that all thoughts on Webber should be together so we see what everyone thinks. _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Oh, and I concur. Sign Webber for a minimum deal (thought I am sure he will get offers for more elsewhere).
It's too bad we don't have the injury exception (exemption?) anymore _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Wouldn't it be a laugh to show up in Cow Town for our next game with Webber wearing a Laker uniform? _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Well according to my local news, and I live about 20 minutes outside of Philly, Webber is reportadely going to the Lakers. Our local sports guy said last night that the Sixers will buy him out and its reported he will sign with the Lakers. |

It's way too early to start pulling my chain and starting a frenzy like this. By the time the West Coast people wake up, they will read this and go crazy, and then they will swear for someone's blood when it doesn't happen.
EDIT: By the way, Kobster, what local news station were you listening to? More specifically, what reporter said this? Does he/she/they have a reputation for getting things right? _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

I've always likce C-Web. In his prime and when healthy he was one of the premier PF in the game. He has very good passing skills and could hit the mid range jumper and these 2 assets are exactly what a PF needs in the triangle.
I would welcome Webber for the minimum ! |

Who are you going to get rid of in the meantime? The roster space doesn't exist... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

i know miami is the usuall suspect for that type of thing, but my opinion after looking at this from all aspects, is that it's between us the the bulls.
i have no idea if i'm right though... |

What makes you say the Bulls are interested? It makes sense, as they need a scorer down low, but is it just speculation on your part based on team needs, or is there something else?
If Webber is bought out, there are always the usual suspects:
- Miami (needs help everywhere)
- San Antonio (always seems to sign veterans and shake things up without blowing up the team)
- Lakers (always tied to every single player, I think we could use him)
- Boston (they are going in a youth movement, but need some scoring help)
- Knicks (always seem to want everyone, and then grossly overpay for all of them)
Now, realistically what are Webber's options? That I don't know. But it might be funny to see him reunite with Don Nelson in Golden State. _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

No one is going to offer Webber more than the min for this year.
Miami and San Antonio want to get younger, I doubt he goes there.
After losing in Philly, he won't go to losing in NY. Same goes for Boston.
It likely will be LA or Detroit. |

Link?
How does Miami get every darn released player in the league? How many roster spaces do they have? And why would Webber want to play for Riley - Riley will make him suffer. And why would Miami want another PF don't they already have Haslem and Walker? Not to mention they are one of the worst teams in the league this season.
Either way, I'd take my chances with him. He's got one of the most consistent elbow shots in the history of the game - yes that is true. He is also an elite passer at his position. No defense, yet that's still an upgrade over Bian Crook. |

I totally forgot about Detroit. He is a Michigan boy, after all. Not sure if Dumars wants him or what he could do for this team, but I wouldn't put it past Webber to go there.
I know it is ridiculous to speculate with other people's money what we should do, but we will still do it.
If Chris Webber becomes available, what would you rather do?
- Not sign him
- Sign him, cut McKie, eat McKie's guaranteed salary
- Sign him, cut Shammond, eat Shammond's guaranteed salary
With McKie, he is oft-injured, never on the court, but is a veteran voice that is good in the locker room.
Shammond is not injured, but rarely sees the court, is also a veteran
Webber has bad knees, can still probably get 10 points a game, maybe 5-7 rebounds, but may be the weak link on defense.
If we could send out either Shammond or McKie out in a trade, that would be ideal, but who will take on expiring contracts for no reason whatsoever other than just helping out the Lakers? _________________ Courage doesn't always roar.

Mckie, Shammond williams both can be cut.
Mihm can be a option too, since he out for the season and he is expiring. |
