Trade Deadline is coming up in a month...
Do you think this is the team that can go to the FINALS...?
What should we do with Chris Mihm/Aaron Mckie?
Should we try to get Marcus Banks?
Should we try to trade ODOM for KG?

To save room on the messages boards, I think every thread which mentions a trade, suggests a trade, or hypothesizes about a trade should be moved/merged with this thread.
I hope that happens, sort of getting annoyed with the constant threads regarding trade ideas. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

Well, since the Lakers have standing offers from the Suns and Wolves for Banks and KG respectively, I think it's best to wait until the deadline to decide which trade to make. |

How about we bring back Sprewell? _________________ "In essence, the trade was: Shaq, Rick Fox and Gary Payton for Odom, Kwame, Mihm, Profit, 2nd round picks, a 1st round pick and 30 million in luxury tax saviings." - LakerJam

I don't think this Lakers team can win it all this year. However, I think most of the pieces are in place for a championship run the next two years. If Bynum and Farmar continue to develope, Radman regain his touch after surgery, resign Mihm and Luke, add another player with the MLE, barring injury, we're on our way. _________________ Ringo "You retired too?"

Lakers can't get Kirilenko without giving up a talent like Odom or Bynum (or Kobe obviously). Lakers won't pay that price. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

Rashad McCants

Change in team outlook: +3.8 ppg, +2.7 rpg, and +2.5 apg.
Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers and Minnesota being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and Minnesota had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Do it Mitch!.....seriously though...we do that and we are a dynasty waiting to happen.............*waits for all those to come and say that that's giving up too much for KG by overrating both Odom and especially Kwame "the bust" Brown* |

New York Knicks guard Steve Francis remains in Houston rehabbing a bad knee, but he's told people close to him that he and the Knicks have had preliminary discussions about a buyout, but that the two sides can't agree on terms of a potential settlement.

There's only one thing that Utah desperately needs, and that's a quality SG. Something tells me the Lakers won't trade Kobe Bryant. |

Something the Lakers really should do if they're planning to let Smush walk at the end of the season. Marcus would learn the offense in spot minutes behind Smush and Farmar and would be ready to back up Jordan next year if Smush leaves through Free Agency. And even if he doesn't, the Lakers could still move some players for picks or some other major player, because they'd have the trade assets.
No brainer, do it, Mitch! |

Just a question for everyone: how would you expect a player traded to the Lakers to pick up the triangle offense at mid-season point? Most players need at least a year just to grasp the concept. |

dont trade anyone.. the team is finally starting to excel in the triangle.. our bench is good compaired to other teams in the league, 8th according to this site http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/stats/07/7/pts, and we havent been 100% for most of the year. I say leave the team the way they are now. |

Considering Team Bryant's proposal that we'd be giving up Odom and Kwame in the deal, do you realize that we'd be ADDING kg to a team ALREADY capable of beating SA on the road?
BTW, there's almost no chance they give up KG with Minnesota in the thick of the playoff race. And there's ABSOLUTELY no chance they package McCants with him. |

Trade are irrelevant unless we give up some long-term contracts (i.e. Vlad, Lamar, and Brian Cook, Kwame not included because he only has one year left after this).
There is no way we give up any of our expiring contracts in a deal to receive long-term salary simply because of salary cap and luxury tax implications.
See the other thread regarding signing Smush and Luke at the end of the year. Jerry Buss will not allow Mitch to go over the luxury tax threshhold and miss out on league revenue. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

This team is good enough to compete without Odom and Kwame. THey've proven that since they went out. Trade them for KG and we become the team to beat NOW!
Not gonna happen but still |
