It will likely be quiet on the trade front until after the All-Star game. The G.M.s have a chance to meet face-to-face, so the Nets can field possible last minute offers. You won't have to wait much longer as the trade deadline approaches.

quick question to anyone "in the know"

I know the odds are still against a Kidd trade, but in your opinion are the odds of landing Kidd better than the odds of previous trade deadline trade targets?

I remember people saying T-mac, Artest, Boozer, even KG were once possiblities at previous deadlines.

Well the Boozer trade was all but done until Jack Haley messed it up by jumping the gun and announcing it too early.... I remember he even put up a visual on TV showing Boozer to the Lakers for Butler. This made the Jazz get cold feet and backed out of it. How things could be different today if we got BOOZER!! He is just what we need in the Tri and on the low post!

Anyway about Kidd.... I know we already have a thead I just made this one so Emply could see it easier.... we could merge it with the other one now!

Haley wasn't what killed the Boozer deal. Haley was TOLD, by someone deep inside the Lakers that the deal was done. He is only as good as his info. Unfortunately, the deal didn't get done, and Haley looked like a tard. But his announcement didn't kill the deal. It died on its own. He was given bad info.

I think the answer is yes when you consider how desperate NJ is to move Kidd. The Lakers are the ones in the driver's seat right now with regards to the Kidd trade. You couldn't say that about them in past seasons. At best, they were on equal ground with their possible trade partners, but in most cases, they had less bargaining power.

Good freakin' God I hope Bibby has legs. Can you imagine if Mitch traded for somebody without legs? Our perimeter defense sucks as it is, we don't need Lt. Dan out there!

Yeah - but without legs, he couldn't go under screens. That's at least one positive. Also, he would be very unlikely to be called for a foul. Two postives. Traveling would never be called on him either. And it would cost the team a lot less not having to buy him shoes for every game. Jeez, this sounds pretty good.

I wasn't sure if you were reacting to my comment or the one i was commenting on, or both.

I was just trying to point out the irony of trying to draw out an early announcement from one media member about a possible/pending deal and then within that same thread commenting how another media member doing the same thing had allegedly killed a previous deal.

Until someone directly involved with negotiating that deal or non-deal discloses what happened through an interview - i'm not going to be sold on what happened in the Boozer situation one way or another. If i missed that interview though, I'd be curious to see it for myself.

Emplay....something tells me there's a 3 way trade NJ-LA-Memphis.

Kidd to LA
Gasol & Kwame to NJ
Carter to Memphis.

Of course fillers.

I bet something of that caliber is probable.

Well it goes like this " I'll be damn if do and damn if i dont"

Why wouldn't NJ just send Carter to Memphis for Gasol and keep Kidd? (If they could get away with it) Basically this would mean NJ swapping Kidd for kwame from their point of view.

Right... But what i meant was other players going to different destinations.
Like..ie Collins going to Memphis....Memphis filler to LA,MIhm to Memphis,Mckie to NJ + Picks and /or other Expiring contracts going and and so fort.........

Carter and Kidd have been linked to getting traded......Thats no news.

I heard some sport radio guy on Sirius talk about...or Speculate something on this. Just gave me a hunch.....OF COURSE VERY UNLIKELY.

We will see.

GO LAKERS!!!
