- Sign Charlie Bell with MLE
- Trade Kwame and Lamar for Jermaine O'Neal
- Re-sign Luke for a reasonable price
- Re-sign Smush for a reasonable price as a bench 2-guard
- Draft a scoring big-man
- Cut Sasha, Mckie and Shammond

Our main rotation would be:

Bell/Farmar
Kobe/Mo/Smush
Luke/Vlad
JO/Ronny/Cook
Bynum/draft pick

With Mo playing 3 if we need defense there...

I'd like to see us Trade Vlad/Farmar for Artest. Bell for the MLE. Resign Walton, Resign Mihm, Resign Shammond and resign Smush.

Trade Cook/Sasha/Odom/Bynum for K.G.

Bell/Smush/Williams
Kobe/Evans/
Artest/Walton
K.G./Turiaf/2 round pick
Kwame/Mihm/1st round pick

K.G. gets to play with his cousin, one of his best friends, the best player on the planet, one of the best defenders in the league, and one of the best post defenders in the league. Also playing for the winningest coach in NBA history, with the best cheer leading player in the league, for one of the most succesful franchises in sports history in Sunny southern California.

In order to have moves one would like to see, one has to assume that the Lakers will actually make meaningful and productive ones. I'm not even thinking that's much of a possibility.

Option #1:Trade Odom,Kwame,Farmar,2007 1st for Jermaine ONeal and Jamal Tinsley. Sign Blake with the MLE

Option #2:Trade Odom to Detroit straight up for Billups in a sign and trade. I think Turiaf is working his way towards being the starting power forward,so Odom is currently in his way. Other players like Kwame,Farmar and McDyuss,Maxiell could be added, but I would do the straight up deal in a heart beat. Persue a veteren power forward with the MLE,like Webber.

We need to do something bottom line. If not then we are probably looking at another mediocre season. I don't think we need to blow up the team, but we are going to have to give up one either Odom, Bynum, or Kwame to get anybody that is going to make a difference.

Great thread.

1 Develop the bigs we have
2 Resign Mihm for a cheap contract
3 Draft a perimeter swingman that can play d, handle the ball, and shoot
from the outside (Byars?)
4 Possible trade for a defensive stopper (Artest? Patterson????)
5 Try to pick up a pg (Not Mo Williams) <<Although I'd look at Bell.
6 If a deal becomes available, trade for a legit post threat (Garnett,
O'neal.
7 Cut our losses and get rid of some of our dead weight. Its time to put
nba caliber players on the floor.

Good ideas. Forget the cancer Artest though, we don't need another head case.

When was the last time the Lakers were that active in one off-season?

Exactly.

We will sign Chucky Atkins this summer, that will be it. Quote me.

I'm not giving Colangelo any more due then he deserves. he's a good GM. better then kup? I have no idea. win something then lets talk.

It'd be great to move Odom + Bynum for an impact player but I'll be happy with just an upgrade at PG. And I mean a real upgrade, not another side-grade (Fisher --> Chucky --> Smush).

After falling into the lottery

we get lucky and get the number 1 pick in the draft, we then trade Bynum for the number 2 pick in the draft.

We then package Walton in a S & T deal along with Odom and we get Okafor and Wallace back in return.

Then we trade Kwame Brown and Smush, Cook and Sasha for
6th pick in the draft and Ridnour

we draft Corey Brewer with that pick.
Mihm resigns and is given a bill a good health.
Then after resigning, Mgmt doesnt feel like keeping Mihm around and then is traded along with Ridnour and Radmanovich the L.A. recieves
Heinrich and Andres Nocioni

Our team

PG- Heinrich, Farmar
SG- Kobe, Evans
SF- Wallace, Nocioni, Brewer,Durant
PF-Okafor, Turiaf
C- Oden

There you have it, very simple! heheh

There's no way in hell I'd trade Bynum after seeing some of things he did in this game. Seriously, I'd trade Kobe before I'd think about trading Bynum.

I actually think 20 and 10 is conservative for Bynum now. I think he's capable of 25 and 10. If you're a center in this league, and you can shoot fadeaways, you're good for at least 25 a game. Just because as a center, you can get a lot of points already, from guard penetrations and putbacks.

He's still raw, but so was Duncan at one point. But clearly, you can see the potential.

There is a difference.

Colangelo has won one executive of the year in 2005. His teams are doing pretty well.

"Phoenix Suns President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo was named the NBA Executive of the Year today by The Sporting News.

Colangelo built the Suns through a series of forward-thinking moves, beginning with the trade of All-Star guard Stephon Marbury to New York in order to create cap room in the summer of 2004, which allowed the Suns to sign the eventual 2004-05 NBA MVP Steve Nash, starter Quentin Richardson and key reserve Steven Hunter. The free agent pickups coupled with the midseason acquisitions of veterans swingman Jim Jackson and forward Walter McCarty, sparked the NBA’s third greatest turnaround in NBA history as the Suns finished a league-best 62-20 after a 29-53 record in 2003-04. "

http://www.nba.com/suns/news/colangelo_050517.html

That is more than I can say about our team.

First, trade:
Lamar Odom
Kwame Brown
Andrew Bynum

to New York for:
Stephon Marbury
Jared Jefferies
David Lee

Resign Luke Walton and Chris Mihm
MLE: Ruben Patterson
Vet Min: Joe Smith

Why? We upgrade at PG while gaining 2 defensive players and lose nothing in scoring or rebounding.

New York clears salaries, get's Odom and Bynum for their present and future, and Kwame's contract expires.

The addition of Patterson gives us more scoring and more defense, and Joe Smith and Marbury attract KG here in a year, for the MLE.

He has respect. He can pull off trades Kupchak wouldn't be able to. Fred Jones was useless the entire season and they brought in Juan Dixon who has been an excellent addition for them. He got rid of CV who manned the same position as Bosh and brought in TJ Ford after Mike James left. He found players who want to play in Toronto, which isn't easy. Yah, I'd say he's doing a good job.
