|
|
Quote: | Amid postseason speculation regarding the status of Shaquille O'Neal, some of it sparked by his own comments, Heat coach Pat Riley on Wednesday issued a statement that the team has not entertained offers nor has interest regarding a trade of the center. "Amongst growing speculation in the media, in reference to Shaq, I want to set the record straight and say that we are not trading Shaq," Riley's statement read.
None of O'Neal's teammates, during their exit interviews with the media, mentioned the possibility of O'Neal, 35, not being with the team next season. The debate was triggered last week when Riley, after being asked about O'Neal's propensity toward downplaying the regular season, responded, "If he wants to give back $10 million and play half a season, then fine.''
The only way out of paying O'Neal $20 million for each of the next three seasons, other than a trade, would be for the center agree to void the contract, either through a buyout or by retiring. |

May the Heat have many more happy years of paying $20M for a slow, overweight, half-season, free-throw bricking center while they no longer have the cap space to add any talent to the team.
Cheers! |

After this season and Shaq's soon to be typical performance, Is Riley kidding himself that any team would want that mega monster of a contract?
This has to be to assuage Shaq's ego or Riley's pride.
60 million for what? A legend sure but com'on? I'd rather have Karl Malone or David Robinson or an M than for Shaq anyday. Rodman would be more productive. IMO, the Shaq bus has left the station. LA was smart enough to know it and see this coming. |

Sad that their back up center who gets paid 1/10 what Snaq makes still continues to work so hard while the fat blob is as lazy as ever. |
