this is something ive been noticing a lot at my tender age of 24. The way kids talk nowadays.....jesus it's ridiculous. I would NEVER talk like that when i was a teen. Sure we'd do mischevious things, but for the most part we would behave ourselves. The blame goes to the parents. The line between punishment and abuse is so thin now that parents are afraid to hit (spank) their children in fear that they would be abusing them. Total bs. This is why i don't like teenagers

When I was younger, I would NEVER cuss or disrespect anyone older than me. Now I have 13 year olds cussing me out... what has the world come to?
12/13 year olds smoking like they are allowed to on the streets and being disrespectful to people around them when they tell them to move since they are intoxicating them while they are on their family dinner...

this is a good thread. bringin it back w/ a couple more.

1.boys (or sadly enough, grown men) who call their fathers "daddy" or their mother's "mommy". It's still annoying when girls do it after about 10 years old. hell, i don't even like it when kids call their parents "mother" and "father". get w/ the times! what are you a quaker??.

2. Ill get flamed for this but I don't know it's possible for someone to be a yankees and a lakers fan. yea, life's pretty easy for you guys right? It's probably just me but, I guess Im really loyal to LA and to me, it's like turning your back on the city.

Most guys who use the term "daddy" refer to their mothers as "mama". Of course, "aunt mom" is usually more precise

Well there's usually a way that they got to be a fan of both. Like they lived in NY for a while and they're dad was a big Yankees fan, so they started liking them. But then they moved to LA, got interested in basketball, and started following the Lakers.

I don't know how that happens, because you would think that they would stick with the Knicks. The really weird thing is when people are fans of teams from places that they've never even been to.

Yup. Jack is a Yankees fan. Kind of lowered my respect for him when I found out.

I spoke so soon...

-Long lines with somewhat slow service. Yes, I find shortcuts and/or skip in line.

-Shaving. I got a beard. It's time-consuming. Ladies, it's just hair on the cheeks and below the jaw.

-People jammin' while driving with loud speakers at high volume. I don't wanna hear Lil' Wayne or Gucci Mane from 4 blocks away.

-Dogs. All that barking is a nuisance.

-People who put too much cologne/perfume.

-The smell of Fritos. Man, I hate that smell.

This is a 4 yr old post, but I'll bite anyway. I have relatives whose kids (who are younger than 12) will look at a 5 dollar bill like it's trash.

I hate to sound old, but it wasn't too long ago when I couldn't even fathom my folks buying me something as costly as a cellphone...nor to actually expect that they would. I believe that might have impacted me because, now, I hate accepting any kind of handout unless I won it as a prize. I don't need to borrow cash, but I NEVER would without paying it back. I hate the concept of credit as well. I don't feel comfortable unless I'm square. I like that line by Jack in The Shining: "I'm the kinda guy likes ta know who's buyin his drinks, Lloyd..."

I will not agree with today's kids/teens being sleazier or more a-holish than kids where when I was young, though. Maybe Beaver Cleaver days, but not in the last few decades. I've done my share of mischief, but I did view adults as authority figures and that kind of thing starts w/ the kids' parents. I believe too many kids have been taught to view themselves as the most special person in the world, and it's no surprise when they act like it's true. There's a way to convey love and importance, but it's not by selling yourself out as a parent. You don't respect people who let you walk all over them, fundamental rule of life that even kids pick up on.

Okay, I don't know if anyone else pays attention, but several things about driving.

1. When the light turns green, I don't even want to wait 2-3 seconds before you take your foot off the brake pedal. Step on it already. The lines of traffic in California are long enough so that those 2-3 precious seconds actually squeezes out another car or two.

I tend to feel that way myself, but it's tempered every time I see a video of someone getting careened by an ahole who tries to beat a red. Not fun being honked at by someone while you're trying to make a left w/ your signal on or if you're waiting for a pedestrian to clear the crosswalk, but it's happened to us all.

I wonder if this is a Southern thing because it seems that the oldest offenders usually have a drawl. Lyndon Johnson called his father that and there's this well-known pic of him kissing his daddy on the lips before he boarded a train for the Senate. They were very close, but you don't see that too often.
