In case anyone is interested, I scanned this article out of Laptop Mag. A nice breakdown of the top mobile devices on market - iPhone, Blackberry Curve, Helio Ocean, HTC Mogul, LG Chocolate, and Nokia N95.

Here's the link.

The nokia n95 is a nice phone but it's just too expensive to make a splash in the mainstream. You can get an iphone AND an xbox 360 for the price of the n95.

Nokias are HUGE in Europe and Asia.

I think with the US there are a lot of regulations and what not, that the phones have to meet...so...not as easy to adopt new technology.

Also our networks are somewhat unique compared to the rest of the world.

The future should be WI-MAX, and cell phone carriers obsolete...but I'm sure they won't go quietly, and they won't WANT to go quietly...why would they allow people to communicate for free? especially when they can charge you up a storm.

I just bought a Motorola Q9 (Verizon) last week. I love it. Only complaints I really heard on it were that the battery life is low (as with most smart phones if you are on the internet all day) and that it doesnt support wi-fi (which I honestly dont care about).

It makes and recieves calls and text messages, it gets internet for those horribly boring lecture classes, i have a Windows Media Player on it, and the camera/video player is pretty good quality. I dont need it to do all the things my desktop can do (although it can do most), I just wanted a cool phone and I think the Q9 was exactly that.

the Gold Blackberry that is on TMobile has Wifi functionality for the phones. Like it can go on Wifi to make calls.

EXACTLY!!

The iPhone is really a pre-Wi-Fi (eventually Wi-MAX) handset. It's a real "sneak peak" into what true internet telephony could be. No carrier fees, etc. You get all the internet, use the internet to make phone calls, and you don't have to pay ridiculous "Rates" on calls and what not.

For those of you who state they don't care about Wi-Fi right now...well...ask T-Mobile users...they save MONEY when they make calls in Wi-Fi hotspots. Why would not care about making money?

I mean, do you actually enjoy paying for your airtime and calls?

That's like saying, I don't care about the hybrid technology in a car, as long as I have GPS and bluetooth in my car. It just makes sense. In a Hybrid you SAVE money by not paying as much at the pump. You SAVE money in cities like Santa Monica where CLEAR AIR rated vehicles get free metered parking. Why would you "not care"?

I've had the Q for about a year now. Love it. Internet, email, music player, sling player (so I can watch my tv at home on my phone), GPS, etc....

Best phone ever.
