I have lived here almost my whole life, so it was natural for me, but what about those of you who live in the other 49 states?

Discuss & share.

When I was really young in the Philippines, my Celtic fan uncle tried to get me to like the Celtics by showing me one of those epic Celtics vs Lakers series. I ended up liking the Lakers because I liked the way their jerseys looked much better. Then I ended up moving to SoCal and the rest is history.

I was also in the Philippines and in the first grade, 6 years old, when I first saw Magic Johnson and the Lakers playing on television. I don't know why I liked them at the moment but I just did.

My older cousin was a Magic Johnson fan. I really looked up to him. When he watched the Lakers, I was there to tag along. Then I saw Magic for myself. That's all it took for me.

So I jumped on the bandwagon in 1983. But I stayed on it... And this is from someone who grew up 93 miles from the Summit (where the Rockets used to play).

As long as you stay on, jumping the bandwagon is ok (man law)

I found that hard to believe. 2.7k posts and not even a laker fan? Either you're a laker fan, or you've spent the last four years on the wrong forum

Wow, looking at your post history, you're serious
That's neat dude.

What inspired you to join this board in the first place? In your last 250 posts (i dont care to go farther back), you have 249 of those in the Offtopic, and 1 in the lounge.

You're being serious? for real? What team are you a fan of? Or are you an nba fan in general? that's crazy, man.

Did he really fall for it

I'm from Portland so I'm a Blazers fan. That will never change.

I initially joined this board a long time ago due to a laker fan takeover from the Oregon Live message boards a few years ago. eventually I said screw it and just ended up posting here since I live in LA now.

Sleeper cells are everywhere.

I didn't even like sports much when I was little, but Magic was one of a kind, now I'm a big sports fan and a bigger Laker fan. Says a lot about a player when they can do something like that.

When I first moved to this country, I did not know squat about sports. I then started hanging out with friends who were sports fans, particularly Boston Celtics fans. Since we played on the court or backyard basketball, one would choose to be a Celtics, and I would choose the opposite, so I'd be a Lakers player. This extended to video game basketball as well, when it was raining or cold outside.

Then I just stuck being a Lakers' fan.

I started playing basketball when I was in grade 4 here in Toronto and wanted to watch some games to get into the sport more. It was 1984 and seeing Magic Johnson and Showtime was all it took. I've been a Laker fan ever since.

As a side note my favourite hockey player was Wayne Gretzky and I loved that he got traded to the LA Kings. I've been an LA Kings fan ever since as well. I'll always cheer for the hometown Raptors and Maple Leafs....except for when they play my Lakers and Kings.
