Stupid Mitch, general managing is for smart folks! |

I wish I were, but we should have drafted that Roko Ginobili guy. Wafer could have been signed as camp fodder. _________________ Lakers |

Im pretty shocked that this many people voted yes.
True Von is tearing it up the last couple games and has been solid throughout the SPL, I didnt know much about him and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised.
But playing this well in a summer league basically just means you earn a roster spot and not a starting spot especially at PG when it seems to me he is a SG.
I was worried we may not have a decent backup for Kobe but it appears we have found one in Von, he will make the team and give us a nice spark off the bench, hopefully as our poor man's Ben Gordon.
But starting him at PG is a big no no IMO. |

you can't be serious this kid wafer looks like a player. i can see him developing and possibly starting my mid to late season. not likely but possible. i mean look at the young guys out of HS that half way through the season developed. and remeber the triangle is an easy postion to play the point. i mean really good performances out of not so great players. paxon, kerr, fisher, shaw, a halfway dead harper. he won;t start the season but it looks like a great pick i owe mitch an apologize casue i was crying for taft |

I owe Mitch an apology too, I didnt know anything about Von.
But...
Call me Phil Jackson but I dont like starting rookies, let him be our Ben Gordon and give us the O off the bench....we have no scorers off the bench and Im hoping Von can fill that role. |

I would..it'll be fun to watch. Might as well start Bynum too. Realistically, the lakers wont win the championship within the next two years.. Throw these young guys out there and BAM!! 2007 here we come.. _________________ I speak Emoji |

we finally get what "appears" to be some promising young rookies around here instead of all the junk we've had in the past (Rush, walton, cook, etc) and everyone wants to throw em into the fire especially in LA.
it would be nice to finally have some young athletic rooks on the bench (taurif, bynum, Wafer) learning the pro game behind seasoned vets, give them the two seasons to develope with just enough playing time, and make em learn how to be real profesionals....like the old school way! we saw what happened to Kwame brown by rushing him in, now its our team trying to rehabilitate the youngster....let the kids learn! |

Please, summer ball hardly means squat. And I don't think there are enough shots to go around with he and Kobe in the same backcourt. He would be better off the bench, when Kobe sits, giving us some bench scoring. |

Woohoo I broke the tie, it was 34-34 and I voted yes. I can't really say if he's ready to start right now, but I think eventually he will be able to start. Kobe and Lamar are going to be bringing the ball up the court, so all Von needs to do is defend and hit the open jumpers. |

You gotta throw them into the fire. Kobe ain't getting any younger. The longer you take to develop them the more you'll waste Kobe's prime, it's that simple. |

Phil Jackson himself has said that the only reason he didn't start rookies in the past was because he never had to. He always had veterans with a better understanding of the game. When the Lakers needed some outside shooting in the series-clinching game against Minny, he put Rush in. When they needed better ball movement in the Finals against Detroit, he put Luke in. Phil will play whoever deserves to be on the floor, whether they're a rookie or not. |

i agree but if he proves he can start by mid season than why not. obviously it is early but if he shows during training camp and the ealry season that he can give us. 20-25 minutes a game. 10 backing up kobe and 10-15 at the point that would be huge. it give us more options to work with the pg postion. go younger with the other Fa pickups |

2) Warriors
3) Kings
4) LAKERS
5) Clippers |

Let's face it, Wafer is strictly a backup, to Kobe. Wafer will spell Kobe, and be there, in case Kobe goes down, with injuries.
We want someone that specializes in ballhandling, at the 1. _________________ "Teamwork is a nebulous thing. It is as ephemeral as love, disappearing at the latest insult.".... Phil Jackson |

No. he has to sign a contract with the lakers first, and make it through camp. if he manages to make it to the team, worst case, he sits on the bench until garbage time. best case, he comes off the bench for a few minutes. |

It would help if you start making conclusions based on your own observation rather than what's been said or perceived of Phil. |
