the iphone keyboard is fantastic. way faster than most phones. the web browser it's great. it's a full browser, not a mini wap browser. the camera is a 2mega pixel.

however, one big flaw in the sms feature is you can't send a text to multiple people. you have to do it one by one. so that's a bummer.

Are you texting while you are driving?

I have a bberry curve, and am very happy with it. I haven't utilized it as an MP3 player yet, but plan on getting the mini card this week.

I second the praise for the iPhone. I recently bought one and it makes life much easier. Its easy to use but entirely comprehensive.

The keyboard took me a little while to get used to but I love it now. It also recognizes typos and corrects them automatically.

Great, great purchase.

Yeah I have a Curve and absolutely recommend it to anyone. As far as your decision goes, depends what you want out of the phone.

The iPhone is not that great of a product. It's not even 3G. Slooooow. First rule of gadgets = don't buy first gen products. Just wait.

Blackberries are awesome in any case.

I recently purchased an iphone and am very happy with it. The keyboard was the subject of a lot of criticism, but like anything new, it just takes practice. I love it; I was texting with two hands at a fast rate in a matter of hours. As far as it not being 3G, the iphone does have Wi-fi, something many phones still don't have. I have to admit, using the Edge network is excruciatingly slow and unbearable for avid internet users, but with Wi-fi, it is much faster.

And it has a Safari web browser which shows the entire web page. It doesn't stack it in a weird way like other smart phones.

The camera is 2 megapixels, however, the photos turn out to look much better than that. Other 2 mpx cameras (Razr2) don't look nearly as good.

3G iphones are dropping early NEXT year. Kind of stupid to announce that right before christmas..

However if you are a heavy text-er and emailer, get the Blackberry. The iphone is cool if you want easy menus, and quick acccess to things like weather or whatever.

Apple better be giving a discount or trade-in policy for previous iPhone customers on the 3G model. It would be outrageous to charge another 5-600 bucks for the thing.

That said, I wont even buy it if the only upgrade is 3G. I've had very few problems with the 2.5G thus far in Los Angeles. It gets good coverage in most places and is decent speed. Its not super fast but I don't think its slow either. An upgrade to 3G alone isnt enough, IMO. If they add GPS and fix some of the small things like sending texts to multiple people, as well as additional memory, I'll get it.

Please. Apple is the master of enticing people to upgrade their things every year and a half. They have that loyal following. "Oh look, the ipod is even smaller now! Better get one!"

I would've gotten the iPhone on opening day if it was on Verizon. I played around with it and loved it. I'd use it mainly for multimedia, so the complaints about texting and slow internet wouldn't be much of an issue for me.

Technophiles will ALWAYS have something to complain about. Sometimes companies just have to make compromises if they want their product to become mainstream. For as much as the iPhone offers, in such a slim, compact packaging, you are getting your moneys worth in my opinion.

Of course, I'm just speaking about the product itself. ATT is another story.
