Maybe if we get a top 4 seed in the West. But I'd bet most on here agree we won't, at least not next year.

Kobes takin it to the next level this year... Yea you though he was at the highest level, but hes about to go beyond that this year, the lineup we have right now will not be our lineup going into the season, just wait...

You'd be hard pressed to find that person since there's no option of "NO".

This is hard to say without knowing if this current team is what we'll be going into the season with. That being said, the only way Kobe would be considered (by the politically biased MVP voting) for MVP would be if he lead this team to the best record in the league.

Even if he did that, there would be people bringing him down by indicating that it was because he had the help of Lamar and Kwame or because Phil Jackson came back this year.

They need to at least when the Pacific division for him to get any consideration, and that's not going to happen with the Suns still around. You can have all the MVP numbers in the world but they don't mean anything unless you're a top 3 seed, just look at AI last year.

I agree. There are too many Kobe haters out there for him to win the MVP.

Only way is if he gets a championship ring and get a serious numbers i.e., 29pts, 8 assist, 8 reb, 2 stl, above 47% FG and it might be possible. Just needs a better good supporting cast around him to pick up assist numbers and less double teamed.

But it looks like Mitch is starting off pretty good.... We will have to wait and see.

Not good with the numbers (contract wise) but MITCH get JRose, Lue, and TRatliff and we got ourselfs a contending team. At least Western Confernce Finals, IMO.

No way in hell will Kobe win MVP this year. First of all he would have to be on a team that has a top 6 or 7 record in the NBA which ain't gonna happen. If everybody plays to their potential, nobody misses any time, and everybody picks up the triangle immediately the Lakers will be a 7th seed. Unfortuantely the Lakers have a roster full of players who have a histroy of getting hurt every year. Second, wasn't he the won that said the triangle offense puts restraints on his game. The triangle is going to take shots away from him which means his points are going to drop off from last year because he is not a high percentage shooter. It took him over 20 shot attempts per game to average 27.6 ppg and in the triangle he will probably be down to about 18 shots per game. In order to average 30+ ppg in the triangle (which is what he needs to even be considered for MVP) he would have to shoot 48%+ from the field which he couldn't do even when he had Shaq to take away three-fifths of the defense. Kobe won't even be on the ballot for at least 3 years.

If Kobe puts up impressive numbers, hit some buzzer beaters, and the team wins at least 45 games, he'll definitely be top 3 candidate.

Why?

They don't award a 1st round MVP trophy.

The Lakers need to be in the top five in wins for Kobe to get some mvp votes and you know there are still alot of haters out there, but if Kobe leaves no doubt that he Is the Man, then it could happen.

He needs to be in his best at both ends.
If he can produce enough lucth shootings for more W's,
he will certainly be a STRONG candidate for an MVP.

True actually, I really doubt if Kobe posts 30/8/8 that he doesn't get the MVP, Kobe haters or not.

Still, I'm not so sure he'll post that either

With our front court being as young as it is, and our PG likely to be subpar given that AD is gone and Jaric is unlikely,,,

I actually won't be too surprised if Kobe is up around 30ppg. I'd just guess him more around 6/6 for the rest of his stats.

Oh and even at 30/8/8, we'd need to at least make the playoffs, if not move up a couple of seeds for him to be any kind of MVP lock.

IMHO

ITS GONNA BE HARD FOR KOBE TO WIN BECAUSE EVERYONE IN THE LEAGUE ARE IDIOTS.

FOR SOME REASON THESE MORONS PUT KOBE ON ALL NBA THIRD TEAM LAST YEAR.

BASED ON TALENT AND ALL AROUND GAME KOBE SHOULD BE MVP EVERY YEAR.
