Pizza Chicago up here in the South Bay for thick crust...no one else compares...

Also San Giovanni Pizza in Anaheim has the best chicken pizza

Anyone know the Lansing, MI area (encina1?)? I'm going to be out there at the end of this month and have been told I need to go to Bell's Pizza.

I really enjoy BJ's Great white...without their garbage tomatoes though.

Peppino's is pretty awesome.

I've never tried Z Pizza...there's one right by my house. Any good?

Gotta love Little Ceaser's Crazy bread too.

Agreed tat Pizza hut and Dominoes are straight trash.

There is a small chain called Jo-Jo's Pizza Kitchen. I have been to the one in Brea and the one in Chino Hills. They have a few other locations.

Anyway, they have a "Lasagna Pizza" that is the best anywhere!

Worth the trip...IMO!!!

Abbott's pizza in Santa Monica and Venice.... best in LA IMO.

In San Diego, Bronx Pizza in hillcrest... no one else comes close here (or in LA).

Ok, by far some of the HEALTHIEST and yet GREAT TASTING and SAVORY pizza's I've ever had was at a place in Westwood Village called:

D'Amores

The place has absolutely the best ingredients and health conscious pizzas.

If you see the owner, Joe D'Amore, he's a hoot. He'll tell you how he came upon the necessary ingredient to make the pizza taste like home (New York). It's a charming story about his grandma, so have a chat with him if you see him. He's a real intense guy and really friendly.

Try their BIANCO pizza. I prefer chicago style pizza, but D'Amore's health factor and high quality ingredients make for a much more satisfying eating experience.

Another place people keep telling me about, but I've yet to try is "VALENTINO's" in Hermosa Beach.

I gotta check it out soon...

Zano's Pizza Kitchen in Woodland Hills.. their calzones are the size of NFL footballs and taste incredible. The pizza is damn good as well.

But my favorite has to be the sausage and fried eggplant pie at Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock.. nothing even comes close.

Ok, I was going to start this thread if Luxury didn't. The other threads were great, but let's face it, L.A. knows how to do hot dogs and burgers. We could even throw in tacos and donuts and sit here all day talking about it.

When it comes to pizza, things are a little bleaker.

For me, NY style pizza is where it's at. You can keep your Chicago deep dish. The problem of course is where to find such a beast in The City of Angels. Of course there are the big national chains. Might as well just spread some ketchup on a hunk of cardboard. I've had pizza at Costco, as unlikely a place as that might be, and that stuff holds up quite well, though it doesn't scratch that itch. California Pizza Kitchen is the only national chain worth knowing, but they do their stuff different. Good, but different. There are only two places I've been to that approach the quality I'm looking for.

Ameci's consistently delivers good stuff. It's a chain, but not a large one.
The other place is NYPD Pizza. I've eaten at the one in Burbank. This is a different chain than the one mentioned in Ann Arbor and it's got the goods as well. Both of these places are great pizza joints, but I've yet to find one that is comparable to the stuff I had while I was in the NYC.
