Now it's a hot rumor, what d'ya think? We know, the "trade" would NOT involve Odom. Assuming it's George, Divac and Slava on the block, should we do it?

Please remember that:

Franchise's contract runs thru 2008 season.
Stoudamire will want more than 2 years guaranteed contract.
Payton is likely take 2 years contract.
Watson/Dixon/other PG would also want more than 2 years.
We still have MLE and LLE after the Franchise trade.

Franchise's 2004-05 stats:
21.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 7.0 apg, 42.3%FG, 30% 3-point fg
17 shots per game for 78 games
Ranked 4th in turnovers per game
Ranked 7th in assists per game

Hope the stats help. Complete link:

It's a no brainer that you pull the trigger on this trade, but seriously, what are the odds??

Payton has something to prove. he has some unfinished business and owe Phil a revenge. Sign him rightaway! And have T.Lue and Smush to back him up!

The odds it's probably unlikely to happen unless Magic is willing to take George, Divac and Slava.

I agree. But I think he must be willing to take less than $10M for 2 seasons.

Yes, so sad because Shaq was clearly still in his prime.

Stevie would be a great addition to this team. Maybe not perfect, but a huge upgrade from any pg they've had in quite a long time.

He plays D, pushes the tempo, can get to the rack and can distribute. He's also very athletic. And contrary to what some of you believe, I think he would have no problems playing the Kobe and Lamar.

His contract conflicts with Mitch's game plan for '07, but could be well worth it.

Do it Mitch, do it now.

Odom is already said to be untouchable for Franchise, I'd find it hard to believe Orl. wouldn't atleast want Mihm. Mihm + Expiring Ks for Stevie would be a steal IMO. If we can get Cato thrown in Mitch should be shot if he doesn't pull the trigger.

I don't see magic throwing in Cato in the mix. After looking at Franchise's stats, it looks more than OK if they take Georgie/Slava/Divac.

For those who think and are still thinking that Franchise is STILL THE SAME selfish player, I have bad news for them: Franchise took 17 shots
per game last season. Kobe took about 21. But certainly, Franchise
realizes he'd be forced to shoot less if he joins Lakers. Whatever you
want to label him, his 2004-05 stats still looks impressive.

Lakers fans are complete hypocrites. Everything yall are saying about Francis people said about Kobe b4 (and after) Phil. Everything! When Francis played wit Yao he made it just as far as McGrady did with Yao, cept he ran into US. Yall are talkin bout how LA had a chance to get him b4, but declined????? Hello!!!, that was b4 the Allan Houston rule people. Any GM who could get Francis for nuthing would go after him, and if thats the case, i will go out on a limb and say that's our target.

Disgruntled Allstar
Did not make the playoffs this year

Francis people

and when he does come here and yall start with the sour grapes, i'll just laugh. And i'll laugh even harder when i see posts throughout the season marveling at how mucg of a steal Francis was.

In case you missed it earlier, i proposed the following scenario for the acquisition of Francis's services

Orlando Magic (WELL OVER THE CAP!!!!!) could agree to cut Francis (for LA) and we can still give them Expiring Ks. Vlade + Slava for Cato anyone????? All we have to do is give Francis a 2 year deal for the MLE.

And no disrespect to Emplay but i doubt heconsidered that the Allan Houston rule was nonexistent when they tried to trade him to us. Same wit Baron.

Plus I hear Steve's girlfriend will be the playing ball in LA this year as well.
Anyway

projected roster.

Mihm/Cato
Brown/Turiaf/Cook
Odom/george (or bender)
Kobe/Walton
Franis/Lue/Wafer

D-League

Bynum
Douthit
Jones
Cook
Green

why?
do we need another player who needs the ball to be effective.
Our top two players already need to have the ball in their hands. You guys think its a good idea to have a third guy with the same problem? Seriously?
Francis' ball hogging problems, like kobe go beyond attempted shots. He over dribbles waaay too much.
Big thumbs down from me.

Francis is another guy who plays defense when he is involoved in the offensive end. If not, he does not defend well.

Remember during JVG's first year in Houston, Stevie pouted and did not follow JVG's directions concerning running the offense. What makes anyone think he is not going to do the same with Phil and the triangle?

Doesn't everyone need the ball to be successful? I just love how people talk about the ability to beat guys off the dribble as if it was a negative. When Kobe kicks the ball out, wouldn't it be helpful for someone to do something without him being wide open? I don't see why Francis and Kobe can't coexist. Their stats each will go down a little, but at least we won't have a worry about a team smothering our ball movement because of our lack of ballhandlers.
Look, when Kobe is being doubled by a team like Detroit, it helps to have another guy that can step up and take away the pressure. I don't see Odom doing that against the intense pressure and the whole arena being in his ears.

Umm Yes! I'd take this deal in a second even if it does include Mihm.
Mihm-back up center and easily replacable.

Mihm,George,Vlade,Sasha for Francis

Kobe needs all the help he can get. Lakers fans get a boner over Antonio Daniels, but would say no to Francis?

Franchise was a GREAT player in Houston. He played with heart. He got in a bad situation in Orlando and had one so-so year. Bring him to LA - Kobe, Odom, Franchise is a great 1-2-3 punch. They'd be contenders next year and in year's to come.

I'd even include Mihm in the mix.

Do the trade, and pick another option also....we would still have our MLE!

Sign Payton & Hunter with the MLE

Francis, Payton, Parker
Kobe, Sasha, Wafer
Lamar, JJ, Walton
Kwame, Turiaf, Cook
Mihm, Hunter, Bynum

Looks ok to me.

if they're willing to throw in cato, why not just have them keep cato, and we keep mihm. why would we swap cato and mihm?? doesn't make sense to me.

unless they are just trying to dump stevie and his contract for anything, what do we have to offer that we're willing to part with?? i don't see much. if expiring k's are enough, we absolutely must pull the trigger, but what? george, divac, slava, cook..... it's a stretch, but they are unhappy with one another.

My problem with Francis, is he's dumber than a rock, in terms of BBall IQ. For those that think Devean is bad... George would be valedictorian of the class that Francis got held back a year from.

I love Steven Hunter. But Payton has to settle for an LLE if we use MLE for Hunter.
