|
|
As you all are painfully aware, LG has outgrown its server. While the current server has helped us handle double the traffic we were previously able to support, it obviously can't handle the load we have now.
When I took over the site a few weeks back, my first goal was to raise the ad revenues so that we could upgrade our server and fine tune the back end. I've put a lot of work in trying to optimize the ad side and we also have a redesign coming up that will help.
But the day that the Gasol trade went down, it was clear we couldn't wait any longer. On off days we are seeing double the traffic we previously were.
So, we've done some research into the type of new server we would like and are asking the LG community to help out with donations. We've hooked up with the Amazon Honor System -- a longtime web service that allows users to donate to web sites that they enjoy. We have set a goal to raise $3,500 for the server and associated costs with shipping and set up.
The max amount you can contribute is $50 per donation. If you'd like to contribute more, contact me. However, it would be nice to spread the donations among many of us instead of a few. Anything you can contribute will be much appreciated.
We've got some exciting times ahead and we would like to have a site and a server that can be there for you when you want to get on LG the most.
Through this system, you have the option of donating anonymously or letting us know. Contribute to LG here:

Thank you for your support!

I like this site, I plan on donating in a few weeks.
There are 261 people on this site right now, if each person donated $15 bucks. We would reach our goal! _________________ The only thing standing between me and greatness, is me.

Sorry I can't donate, otherwise I would. Perhaps when I get a job this summer?
Anyways, 50 bucks in 30 minutes.. pretty good but that's a LONG way from 3,500.
How many members do we have on here? And is there a way to know how many of those are active? |

I'm in. I enjoy this site so much, happy to help out. And I want LG to be up and running smoothly when the Lakers go all the way... _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Benjamin Franklin |

I will kick in another 25.00 if you will ban the user I designate for three days.

Why do I get the feeling pokoy and Larry Coon are just piling up the cash so they can go out on an all-night bender in Mexico?

Happy to donate $50 to the site. Your great recaps alone are more than worth it DB. Thanks for all your hard work. - Dennis S. _________________ "Every time he got an offensive rebound, it was deflating," Hornets coach Monty Williams said ... "I thought Bynum decided the series. He was that good."

How about I donate $100 to be mod for a day? That'd definitely be an interesting day!
I'll toss in my $50 when I get a chance in the next few days. Thanks for all your time and hard work, DB! _________________ Jeffs

If there's anyway, you may want to get the running total on the top of LG.
People are always more inspired to donate when others have, and they can visually see that. |

Count me in.
Thanks to all the staff and all the contributing members for your time and dedication.
I hope this new server kicks ass because we are about to be riding high as NBA champs and the bandwagon will be busting at the seams.

$3500 for a new server? That's a lot of server. What are we running on right now?
I recently had a donation drive for my site... someone ended up donating a whole new server. |

Agreed. That would be cool and would likely help raise awareness in case people don't bother to read the sticky. |
