As much as I love Fish, I think at this time it would be good to move in a new direction.

If Anderson is healthy and can play defense at the 1, then his versatility might be very valuable.

I have to agree with you all the way,it seems phil is determined to have a really tall starting 5

Since we lost out on AD, my vote is for DA...

Seriously, Fish may know the Traingle, but DA is the perfect fit hands down...

As a matter of fact... Actually I'd just as soon have DA or AD, anyway...

I would question why Golden State would let Fish go. He's a solid backup.

I think the better question might be who would you rather have back Fish or Nick???

As far as this poll goes I voted for DA because he is much more skilled than Fish and more versatile.

Derek Anderson could be a better fit for the Lakers if he's able to play some D. But I voted for the sentimental pick: Fisher.

Man, I've hated DA since he was with the Clipps. Fish is much more clutch and has BETTER D. Although I do want the Lakers to sign him now, but Fish>DA 4 sure......

DA absolutely. The guy is a 2-way combo guard who still has the abilities to be a quality starter. Fish has been a career backup and should remain so. Please keep him at Golden State.

I voted for DA.

We need DA more than Fish.
DA can shot, defense, pass, steal and he is taller!

If we do get Derek Anderson, we still need to get Lue - Lue can push the tempo and guard the quick small guard , like he did AI in the series. In addition since Anderson has durability problems, if we get Lue then we can save Anderson and play him ~25-30 min a game.

I hope we get Anderson...- I actually like him better than AD, and he'll come much cheaper!

I love Derek Anderson.

I would love if he became our starting PG....but...

If I had to have one....and only one, between DA and Fish....

I gotta go with Fish.

Here's why:
1. HE ALREADY KNOWS THE TRIANGLE!!!! Not to say that DA couldn't pick it up, but Fish KNOWS it already, and executes it well at that.

2. Fish has played for our coach, came into the league and is good friends with our star player, and is revered by all Laker fans. Not to say DA couldn't be all of these things but...Fish already is.

3. 0.4-nuff said

4. 2001 vs. everybody. DA has hit some pretty big shots, but not nearly as many as Fish. I think Fish was a principle reason why we dominated that years playoffs.

5. Fish is not injury prone(knock on wood). DA kind of is. Da could very well be a healthy player for us but Fish has already proven to be. Do you guys remeber that really bad fall that DA had a couple years back when he was undercut on a breakaway? He hasn't quite been the same since that happened, injury-wise anyway.

6. Fish is a great defensive player. Yes I said great. He's a strong little bulldog, who is quick enough to stay with small quick points, and strong and solid enough to body bigger guards in the post defensively. He has garnered the reputation as a charge taking specialist(if you're a fan) or as a flop artist(if you're a hater), either way it's a turnover for the opposition. DA is a pretty good defender in his own right, although he may have trouble with quicker points(primarily because of his recent knee and back injuries). Fish is a better defender overall between the two.

7.Finally and most importantly...Fish would love to come back and claim his rightful and unchallenged spot as the starting point guard for the Lakers. Fish bleeds purple and gold. There was a lot of uncertainty in Lakerland at the end of our last finals run, and Fish was simply seeking stability for himself and his family when he signed with the Warriors last summer. Now don't forget with the new amnesty clause(Allen Houston Rule) If a team lets a player go, they STILL have to play said player's complete salary, for the length of the contract. I would bet money that if Fish were waived, we could get him cheap. I think he would even be willing to split the MLE with another player.

That's just Fish for you.

That's why we love him.

That's why I would pick him over DA.

DA is a solid player all-around......But Fish is Fish.

For nostalgic reasons it would be great to have Fisher back.

I actually have a small personal Fish story, I ran into him at an airport this year in the waiting area. I told him that I missed him in a Laker uniform, and then I proceeded to pat him on the shoulder of his $5000 Italian suit. Not surprisingly, when I came back to the waiting area, Fish had moved WAY across the room and now had his head buried in a book. I guess he had enough of us, tourists!

Gee, could it be because of his monstrosity of a contract?

I would want Fish back! He knows the triangle, he's a team-oriented player and he's proven that he can come through for us in the clutch. but I doubt he'll be back

nab derek, then if fish comes available, offer him the LLE. he knows this offense. he knows this town. and he knows kobe and jax. hes also a veteran calming influence type of a guy, who can settle things down and execute when derek anderson is not able to grasp the total spectrum of this system. hes also humble enough to play a supporting role and help teach derek the intricacies of the TRI. fish off the bench would be cool.

Hey the Lakers are not the dynasty team as they were 2000 to 2003 lets face it. New face ,new look . Derek Anderson hands down. I mean at least D Fish got his cash which is the most important thing. Maybe we can pull them both.
