It's because the Suns know they can't beat the Lakers anymore and want to try to find an upper hand with inside knowledge. Too bad it still won't help them. |

If Kurt is gone. Have Harp replace Kurt as the Assistant Coach. |

i was just watching espnews and they said kurt rambis is the leading front runner for the new coaching vacancy in phx. did anyone else hear this?
IF he does take the job....how will it effect the lakers when they play the suns assuming kurt knows every play the lakers run. |
Once a Laker ALWAYS a Laker. The Suns would NEVER beat the Lakers with Rambis as their coach. Nor will the Hornets beat the Lakers with Byron as their coach (just like the Nets never did). Just like Vlade tipped the ball out to Horry to beat the Kings....Laker love NEVER ends. _________________ Let them HATE so long as they FEAR! |

My problem with Rambis going there, he knows the Lakers inside out. |

I just realized that we may have the best overall coaching staff in the NBA...

Wasn't it Shaq that objected the most about Rambis? I wonder how that would be like if they were reunited...
ETA: Oops...did'nt read the entire thread. Looks like my question was answered. |
iirc, both shaq and kobe walked into jerry west's office (separately) and demanded the lakers go for phil jackson. that's what i heard at the time. |

THe Lakers Coaching staff is def. one of the best you can get in the league with former players and long time mentors of the game, a great mix.. would love to see them together for a few years longer but if Rambis leaves then it prob. would create a big "hole" on the coaching staff..
That said.. IMO, as long as Phil is Coaching, Hamblen, Cleamons, Shaw, Winter are guaranteed to stay.. Would really not mind to have Harper replace Rambo though |

They can have him. I'm not a big Rambis fan, coach-wise. |

No solid argument or facts to back it up but... I agree. |

It makes great sense. He knows the triangle and Kerr, it seems, wants to run the triangle too. If Kerr could pull out Phil Jackson, he would do it. The Suns' pieces are fit for the triangle especially since they have mobile/fast athletes in Amare, Boris and Barbossa. |

He did get a raw deal in '99, and he deserves another shot at a head coaching job.
Who will be Phil's eventual successor with the Lakers? If the Lakers do go on a championship run, it may be years before we find out. I like rambis, but I'm not so sure i like his odds of getting the nod when that happens.
On a separate note, it would be great to see Kareem get a full-fledged assistant coach position. |
B Scott anyone? |

I would be very surprised if Kurt was hired in Phx. After letting D'Antoni go I don't think Kerr would take a chance on a coach with little head coach experience. I wonder if he'd take a chance on untried coaches. That's not to say Rambis isn't qualified, but I think Kerr wants to make a statement that defense is necessary to gain the next level of playoff winning. Since D'Antoni's contractual pay is not relevant it will be interesting how much money Phx is willing to pay for a top flight head coach or cheap out. I wouldn't be surprised if Avery shows up there. |

Back in the day, I recall reading somewhere, Magic Johnson's theory was that it didn't matter if the other team knew what you were doing, so long as you executed it correctly. |
