Quote:
Dominic DiAngi of suburban Frankfort was sitting behind the Cubs dugout Thursday afternoon during a game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds when a foul ball off the bat of Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly struck him in the head.

I felt that was going to happen... I took my son to his first Angel game (he's 5) about 3 weeks ago and we sat field level, like 4 rows up from 1st base.
I always felt like foul ball was coming our way at any moment.
it was like i couldnt really relax because i was on alert.

SCARY! but Glad to see the kid is going to make it.

Wow. I too have sat behind the dugout at field level and that thought does go through your mind. Those balls come flying by FAST.

^ We make kids wear helmets while biking and skateboarding, it only makes sense to make them wear one while sitting in an area where fast balls are being fouled off at rapid speed.

I really hope he doesn't let it effect his future enjoyment of the game. It's really a shame, but he'll pull through.

To be honest, I'm surprise this doesn't happen more often... some of the low line foul balls go into the stand at a high rate of speed..

Yea, I know what you mean. I just think that alot of times the ball is deflected or something. It seems rare of a direct hit like that.

Probably because adults can dodge faster than a boy.

I am sure he won't watch baseball anymore for the rest of his life.

I hope he makes a full recovery, getting hit by a Baseball is a terrible way to die or injure yourself permanently, going to a Baseball game is supposed to be something special and fun. Will he receive any compensation from the Cubs team?
