no surprize.
we would have never beaten their offer anyway.
look at their roster and keep in mind they spent most of their mle.
how on earth would they have a shot at a respectable big men rotation without keeping thomas ?
they simply couldn't afford to let him go, and we had no shot to begin with. |

Agreed...I still believe we need to make a run at Kwame...Reason being, you have to believe Gasol (ankle sprain, lower back issues) and Bynum (possible tendinitis on the surgically repaired knee) will be on the shelf at one time or another and I honestly don't believe Mihm will never regain his explosiveness. |

I'd bring Kwame back as well. People need to be fair-minded and yeah, he may suck as a starter, but we're not asking him to be a starter. |

We need a bench big who will come in for the minimum.
If thats Kwame, then so be it as far as I'm concerned.(which I don't see happening, but its not impossible)
I know he has his faults, but we also know what he can bring on a good day. And he's a legit NBA player.
I will take that over players with "potential" where we are assuming what they might bring and overlook or don't know what their flaws are. _________________ BORN REBLE |

Spurs Re-Sign Kurt Thomas
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have re-signed forward/center Kurt Thomas. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The 6-9, 235-lb Thomas joined the Spurs on 2/20/08 in a trade with the Seattle Sonics in exchange for Brent Barry and Francisco Elson . He appeared in 28 games for the Silver and Black, averaging 4.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in 18.7 minutes per game. Thomas saw action in all 17 playoff games, averaging 4.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per contest. The former Texas Christian University standout started the season with the Sonics where he played in 42 games, averaging 7.5 points and 8.8 rebounds.
For his career Thomas has played for six NBA teams (Heat, Mavericks, Knicks, Suns, Sonics and Spurs). In 817 career games he has averaged 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds in 27.3 minutes. |

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Kwaaaaaaaaaaaame!
I think at min salary and 10 mins a game Kwame will prove to be adequate. Just gotta hope Mihm is healthy and atleast 75% of his best season. |

Anyone that thinks Kwame will have to settle for the vet min is deluding themselves. Kwame will see an offer between the LLE and MLE from a number of teams. We just need to hope it isn't a conference rival because he will negate Drew's contributions. _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu3vkwP3GHQ |

I would be somewhat shocked to see an MLE offer. Not that it couldn't happen. _________________ BORN REBLE |

Agree with drew4lakers, I would be completely shocked if Kwame gets the MLE from someone. I think everyone is convinced by now that he is what he is, no more talk of potential or upside, 4-6 PPG, 5-7 rebounds, 50% from the line. He couldn't get PT from the Griz, there aren't many more options for him. |

I was really hoping to get Kurt Thomas. He would have been a valuable backup C/PF. His toughness, defense and midrange game could have come in handy against all the big guys out West. I always thought he would be a good tri fit.
I don't want Kwame to return, but I am beginning to expect it. |

Kwame will do well in a back up role, I think. He didn't really get PT with the Griz because they never intended to keep him. He was simply walking salary relief. _________________ "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

I agree. Kwame's agent is talking around 5 million. I think he'll get Ronny money _________________ Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. |

Damn! I was hoping the Lakers would sign him. Good strong tough vet off the bench, oh well. _________________ "You Must Be Willing To Give Up That Which Can Be Lost In Order To Gain That Which Cannot Be Lost." - FORTUNE COOKIE |
