What???

Are there standard weight figures based on age?

fill me in, please!

Most tall kids are really skinny and they naturally get heavier as their body weight catches up to their height. If he already at his mature wt what will he be at age 27? Over 300? But everybody is different, some players never put on weight.

He's listed at 275 for last year on his yahoo sports profile. I know it's great to see him extra athletic out there, but I also think his being somewhat lean was a big weakness against a few guys. I realize we don't want him to get Shaq big, but there has to be some fair compromise because being that size was a major weapon for Shaq--he was just overpowering. I'd like to see a much more imposing Bynum out there that that is a lot harder to push around. A guy like Kendrick Perkins is 280 for instance. Maybe if there were a way for him to maintain his conditioning and quickness at 295.

At one point during the year I remember a player making some comment about how despite how physically built Dwight Howard is, his base is a lot smaller than his upper body area--hurting his post offense/defense game. I sometimes got the impression Bynum had the same kind of base issue.

I can't believe you guys are talking so much about another man's body fat percentage, being lean, and cut.

I personally thinks he looks sexy at 285 lbs.

Bynum is an absolute stud. Can't wait to see him muscling up Yao and Tyson this season. Drew for MIP.

Dredge up the "shiny calves" pics from the Volt. Lots of mancrushes here over Bynum and Kobe's sweaty muscles.

Shaq in College and his first 3 or 4 years in the league was really lean and muscular.

Id like to see Andrew start the season off at 290lbs with only 7% body fat. If these numbers are true then its quite impressive since he has been injured the past 5 months.

Sounds like BS info from Bynum's camp to convince the Lakers to give him a MAX deal. I'll believe it when I see Andrew w/ my own eyes.

Do your eyes have special body fat calculators in them?

Cool super power. Unfortunately only gives you an advantage at medical facilities and sports reporting.

No, but I'm pretty good at telling if someone is in great shape (which having 9% of body fat for someone his size would clearly indicate).

Because the Lakers don't play games with their players. They don't pretend their players aren't worth what they are, and if they can't afford you, they'll tell you that, too.

Don't forget carnivals.

There are carnies out there that would kill for such a power.

He was 285 last season and he was not heavy. Weight isn't about age, it's about size. He's 7'1 with broad shoulders and very good body. He's going to be over 300 lbs in shape, as he continues to grow into his body.

the weight is not important, its the body far % that is the key in knowing if someone is in good shape and for Bynum to be at 9% body fat is impressive especially since he has been injured the last 5 months.

Most carnies would kill for less than that.

That really depends upon the frame.

The first thing I noticed about Andrew Bynum, draftee, was his huge frame. Unlike the twigs the Sonics draft annually, Bynum looked like he could take serious muscle mass. As I said back then, barring a structural problem (like problem knees), there is no reason why Andrew Bynum couldn't hold over 300 to 310 lbs. of muscle mass.

He's getting the max regardless.

Listening to the interview, Mitch never gives a definitive weight or body fat percentage. He just responded to Vic's rumor by saying that Bynum went to Atlanta last year and came back in great shape and that he will naturally get bigger and stronger as he matures.

IMO that's what Drew's weight will be in his prime. Gives him the upper and lower body strength he needs on both ends of the floor, while not putting too much weight on his frame. Structural problems aside, his frame is easily suited to hold 300-310. I wouldn't go over that though.

body fat is very flaky in that different tests will give widely different results so you can walk around saying your body fat % is anything
