although im a big supporter of an odom/chandler (+change) deal, i just can't see it happening before phil has had his attempt at odom...
don't think phil will approve.
before the kwame deal ?
maybe.
now ?
don't think so - although i'd like it.

odom and mihm, for chandler, noccioni, pick.

Curry. Dude equals everything Emp was speaking on. Genius or Foolery by mitch. Same with the Kwame deal. Lakers would be better for it, even if they do have to give up Mihm and draft picks. A starting front line of Curry, Brown and Odom GUARANTEES us playoffs upon them all being healthy. Two or three years from now we could champions.

You may very well be right.

Not exactly a minor trade a la Barry for George

Good point Funkee... to me that would suggest Curry...

I think A deal with Chicago would probably be something like this:

Lakers Trade

Chris Mihm - Drafted by the Bulls
Brian Cook - Former Illinois Star
Devean George - Need an Active player on the Wing
Sasha Vujacic - Prospect
2 Future First Round Draft Choices - Top 5 Protected

Chicago Trades

Eddy Curry - Resigned for around 8-10 Million - similar to Kwames Deal.
Erik Piatkowski - Final Year of Deal

This is a deal that is either Genius or Foolery. Obviously based on the health of Curry. You give up your starting center, back up 4 and possibly two future lottery picks. oh and devean. Recieve a player that could actually RETIRE in a moments notice. or a player that is one of the most skilled at his position. Genius or Foolery.

With the MLE you go after Anderson for 3 million at 2 years. Not many teams can offer this. Use the other 2 Mill on Calvin Booth for 2 years. Sign Mckie for the LLE at 2 years.

You still have the Contracts of Slava and Vlade to Trade if necessary.

Roster

Curry/Booth/Bynum
Brown/Slava
Odom/Jones/Walton
Kobe/Mckie/Piatkowski
Anderson/Parker/Wafer

Solid Starters with a questionable bench.

Emplay and Lionel could just be secretive and hiding their excited emotions. We'll find out when the time comes. I think most logically it has to be Rose or Curry.

you're ignoring curry's byc status.

if its straight up with the bulls, it can be:

curry (8.5 mil), piatkowski
for
mihm, divac, picks.

the other option is a 3 way deal, with a team that way under the cap - like hawks or bobcats - recieving vlade, 2 mil. in cash, and a 2nd rd pick.
the bulls can then get another player - like cook, j.jones, or whoever.

Curry.....I hope. Knows something of the triangle, which goes a long way in Phil's book. Pike can hit treys...which he should get plenty of open ones in the tri.

I think that if the deal is for Curry your scenario is very close to what may happen. I think along with Mihm & Divac, it'll the MIA pick and the Bulls' choice of Jones/Slava/Cook/2nd round pick or cash. Something tells me that we're going to hold onto Devean.

At that point we need another starting guard, backup point, and backup big man. If we can land 2 or the 3 I think we'll be a decent team.

I'll ask this question again because I think the answer is no.

Is Curry an upgrade over Mihm? If yes than barely....

Curry can score at will in the post (at times) but Mihm brings hustle, blocks, and rebounding. Those are the contributions I've been waiting on Curry to provide the last couple of seasons.

Sure he's been injured but this guy has underacheived.

Keep Mihm and trade for Rose. Use MLE on Dale Davis and LLE on Mckie.

Interesting observation. I think that Curry is an upgrade over Mihm, but you're right, at this point it's not as big of a difference as we make it sound. However, I think part of it is that Curry has more of that "upside" that people always talk about. Mihm is what he is, a servicable center and that's all he ever will be. I love to watch the dude play, but his ceiling isn't what Curry's is. You bring up a legitimate point regarding his hustle, shot-blocking and rebounding, although I think Mihm is kind of an overrated rebounder.

I think it's worth the risk. If things were to go well with Curry and Kwame, we are a dangerous team that is a legitimate contender with a couple of minor moves. With Mihm, we are a 1st round fodder at best, especially considering his difficulty with the Triangle Offense. (something Curry is familiar with.

I believe that Emplay and Lionel would sound a lil bit more excited if it was Curry.
Nah, it's not Curry.

I dunno, I think Curry definitely falls under the "genius or fool" category, especially after what happened (sadly) to Turiaf. If Curry ends up not being able to play because of his condition, Mitch will be run out of town, but if he does, it should seriously improve this team.

Also, I don't know if ever seen Lionel get all that excited about anything, trade-wise.

difficulty with the tri? I guess we assume LO has difficulties as well. And being Kwame is new he will have difficulties as well. if that was the tri we ran last year then it seemed kobe had some issues as well. Mihm far outways Curry. Hes a true center with plenty to work with. Curry has to fight weight, heart issues, head issues. Chandler yes Curry no. Mihm YES

Man... how can I be so wrong?
Anyway, some posters even include Franchise in emplay's original thread.
Whew... it's getting interesting! I know, Franchise is out of the many minds here!
